Dillian Whyte v Jermaine Franklin Nov 26 Wembley Arena.

Post by Thomastearns »

Credit to Dillian Whyte for taking on this younger opponent. This is the stuff that real champions are made of. He could have picked a much easier comeback fight but we've said that a few times before with Dillian.

Franklin is 21-0-0 and as we see all too often, not too many 'champions' seem to be willing to face younger unbeaten opponents these days.

There's an obvious difference in experience here. This a huge step up for Franklin whereas Whyte has been fighting amongst the elite for years and years.

However Whyte cannot underestimate Franklin. Boxing history is littered with too many stories like that. Ali v Spinks is an obvious one.

One win here and Franklin's instantly top 10.

His camp has gambled on Whyte being a bit shot or carrying a permanent defensive weakness against the uppercut.

A timely gamble or poor matchmaking?

Either way, we shall find out soon enough.

I think so, I'm going to watch it but I'm not expecting much from either guy actually.

When it comes to confidence and attitude, Dillian Whyte's up there with the best.

Pity we didn't see a Whyte v Fury face off because this one was fun.
