Help Anyone?

This is THE only picture I can find of the largest professional boxer to ever step into a prize ring. It's a picture of Romanian giant Gogea Mitu who stood in excess of 7'4" and weighing nearly 330 pounds. Unfortunately I can't find a larger picture of him anywhere, because the link to the picture keeps breaking on me, nor can I find more information on how he became a boxer.

All I know is that he had a brief career and his most memorable bout, and possibly his only bout, was against the likes of 'The Negro Giant' George Godfrey who was 6'4" and weighed in at 260 pounds, who knocked out Mitu in four rounds after having some difficulty getting past his reach.

Ironically enough, when I try to blow the picture up on Mitu, he looks alot like Romanian basketball player and actor Gheorge Muresan whose 7'7".

I was also wondering if anyone had any luck in finding a picture of another tall boxer named Jim Cully 'The Fighting Demon' who was also a professional wrestler in the 1940's from Ireland, who also stood 7'4". I figured since Decagon did write ups on wrestlers, he could find it?

The tallest man that I knew of who trained to be a boxer, but unfortuantely died, while traveling with Branum and Bailey's was 7'7" Englishman Ted Evans. I found a picture of him doing some 'road work' with some of his trainers, but little else.

Mmmm....Cully looks hardly imposing, looks rather sickly, skinny to me. With a name like 'The Fighting Demon' and having been a wrestler and boxer I would have expected something more grand.

I'd like to see a picture of him in his full height, rather than a head shot.

The one thing I don't get is the complete and utter mismatch making in Gogea Mitu's career path as a boxer. In a fighter's first match I would have expected some one less experienced as Godfrey, who halready had more than 100 bouts under his record and pretty much the #1 contender for Gene Tunney's HW title.

The second picture you have of Mitu I can see, but the first one I cannot. Can you host the image on  .us and send me it through my pm box?

As far as Jim Cully is concerned, can you give me links to those sources where you found those bits of information?

I wonder how I could get ahold of someone with back issues or even a copy of the August 1948 issue of THE RING, if it even still exists (?)

I am surprised none of the recent RING magazine articles have mentioned any of the past 'giants' of the squared circle, considering Nicolay Valuev has become champion of the WBA.
