Daniel Dubois vs. Kevin Lerena | BT PPV - 3 December 2022
Re: Daniel Dubois vs. Kevin Lerena | BT PPV - 3 December 2022
As for Lerena he's good but underowered. Maybe he would have been better targeting Rivas?

Re: Daniel Dubois vs. Kevin Lerena | BT PPV - 3 December 2022
Final Press Conference Quotes
Daniel Dubois: “I’m going to explode on Saturday,” said Daniel Dubois at the final press conference on Thursday. “With Fury, these are the guys I want to face next.
“These are the guys with the main belts. You want to be world champion. You’ve got to go for it. This on Saturday is a step in the right direction.”
Kevin Lerena: “I’m not here to be an opponent. I’m here to make history for my country. It’s no secret that Daniel Dubois is a big strong power puncher. I think the most important thing is boxing. It’s not a strong-man competition.
“It’s not a bodybuilding competition. It’s not who looks the best. A smart man has longevity in the sport. I plan to be smart. I was smart during my cruiserweight career.
“He probably didn’t know about me until the fight was offered to him, but I knew about him. I want to show the world that I want to be on the big stage, and I want to stay.”
Dubois: “To me, Kevin is another opponent. I know he wants to rep and all of that. I’m gunning for him and ready to go. He’s a southpaw, and I’ve been getting plenty of practice. I want to add onto that.
“I want to take him out in style and destroy him and move on. My dad instilled the power in me, and I’m ready to unleash it. I’m a destroyer.”
Lerena: “He’s a destroyer. You can’t hit what you can’t see. You’re hitting people that are standing right in front of you.”
Dubois: “You’re going to be right in front of me, trust me.”
Lerena: “I’ll make you miss and make you pay. I’m not afraid of you. I’ll promise you now. I’m not afraid of you. I know you’re the big boy. This is your show. If I was afraid of you. I’d have gone the other route.
“I’m fighting you for the same money I fight in my home country. It’s not about rep. You said it’s about rep. It’s not about rep. I want to challenge myself against the best.
“I showed you the respect, and you underestimated me at your own peril.
Dubois: “No chance. I’m 100% ready. I know what you are.”
Lerena: “You’re underestimating me.”
Dubois: “Kill or be killed.”
Lerena: “You shouldn’t talk about kill. People die in boxing.”
Dubois: “Kill or be killed.”
Lerena: “I’ll beat you.”
Dubois: “No, you won’t.”
Lerena: “I’ll take you to school.”
Dubois: “I’m ready for you.”
Lerena: “I’m here, my man. I jumped on the plane and got here. They offered me the fight, and I said, ‘Yes.'”
Dubois: “You’re a fighter.”
Lerena: “Correct. It’s the warrior code. Why did you want more money to fight me?”
Dubois: “I didn’t.”
Lerena: “That’s what your trainer said at the media workout.”
Dubois: “I don’t handle all of that.”
Lerena: “Okay, I understand. I said I don’t care about money. I want to challenge myself against the best. Warrior code. Saturday night, you’ll see.
“What’s driving me now is fighting Daniel Dubois. The challengers on the card are from the continent of Africa. That’s history. That man is driving me. What’s next? I don’t care. I need to beat Daniel Dubois. If I don’t beat Daniel Dubois, there’s nothing next.
“Boxing is a cut-throat sport, and I need to focus on the man ahead.”
Dubois: “Just tune in. It’s going to be all eyes on Saturday. Me and Fury, our fights, everybody is going to be watching. I’m going to be ready to go. Let’s get it on. Let’s go.”

I reckon you could dig Frans Botha out of a bar tonight and get him to comfortably go the distance with Lerena. Corrie Saunders would basically have decapitated him.

Yeh, you're right. Lerena stops him in 2 minutes.
Re: Daniel Dubois vs. Kevin Lerena | BT PPV - 3 December 2022
Lerena looks a good boxer from the footage I have seen.
Re: Daniel Dubois vs. Kevin Lerena | BT PPV - 3 December 2022
I can’t see anything other than a painful night for Lerena.

I think people are going to be surprised here. Dubois is very basic. Lerena has more skill. Not saying Lerena will win but he's the more skillful guy. Dubois is going to get hit with some left hands here and we know he knows how to quit. Lerena is a very live dog for me. I've got a bet on him.

Do promoters ever get their friends to post positive things on threads like this? Surely Lerena is reduced to an ungainly heap as soon as Dubois tags the chubby cruiser?

Corrie would have done Dubois early also.

Re: Daniel Dubois vs. Kevin Lerena | BT PPV - 3 December 2022
Lerena can go back to cruiser or retire as much as I care. How can you be sat at your stool at the end of round 1 in that situation and come out and do pretty much zero.

Daniel is more Shannon Briggs than Lennox Lewis it seems.
What’s this about the 1st round bell being rung 12 seconds early? What are we, in Australia?
