Press Release
Former WBA super welterweight world champion Austin Trout (35-5-1) is back in action on December 9th in Hidalgo, Texas. Trout will face Jose Sanchez Charles (20-2-1) over 8 rounds topping the card co-promoted by Legacy Sports Management and Undisputed Pound 4 Pound Ent, live on ESPN KnockOut.
Trout defeated Romanian, Florin Cardos (21-3) in Wuppertal, Germany via a majority decision this past July. Trout currently occupies the #10 spot within the IBF rankings, with a view to challenge for a world title once more. Sanchez Charles has won four in a row. In his career the boxer has never been stopped in his 23 professional fights to date.
Samuel Castaneda (8-0-1) takes on Julio Sanchez (5-6-1) over 6 rounds. The pair fought to a majority-decision draw in September, the two super lightweights will run it back as the chief support for the evening.
Argentine super welterweight Brian Agustin Arregui (7-0, 4 KOs) faces off with Mexican Eduardo Rafael Reyes (10-18) in a 6-round bout. Arregui who is co-promoted by Argentine legend Marcos Maidana won the WBO Youth super welterweight title against Kulbir Dhaka in Dubai earlier this year and will be hoping to continue his transition from prospect to contender.
The undercard is stacked with local talent; Adolfo Alanis Nunes (4-0) will kick the evening off with a 4 round contest in the featherweight division. Alex Ramos (4-1) and Irving Tapia (4-1) go to battle in the super bantamweight division. Someone's 0 will have to go when Javier Vargas (2-0) takes on Damian Guajardo (1-0) at 168 pounds and former WBA Interim title holder and former world title challenger Oscar Escandon (26-6) looks to get back to winning ways against Angel Tamaz Urcid (7-3).
This will be Legacy Spots Management’s first United States event. The German-based promotional outfit has held events in Dubai and Germany. They work closely with Chino Maidana Promotions as the company looks to continue its expansion.
