I don't think either guy is the sturdiest in there. Kelly doesn't throw enough punches for me. Troy is definitely limited but Kelly is overrated. His defence is very porous. Troy is hittable himself. I was giving the edge to Troy but I've shifted to Kelly ever so slightly. His leaky defence is an issue. I don't care if Troy is telegraphing the right hand, there is still a good chance it lands and even if it misses Kelly is just going to pose and admire his slipping of the shot rather than throw a good counter.

Both fighters have the exact style to beat the other guy here.

Great fight this. Kelly has the edge in skill but Troy is the bigger man and carries more power. Genuine 50-50 fight with both men evens with the bookies (which you rarely see)

Troy KO/TKO between R6 - 12 :salut:

Williamson came though an acid test against Cheeseman, Kelly hasn't so far.I think when the going gest tough Williamson is the one who will prevail.

Kelly gets hit too much for a reflex fighter. I still think his skill will beat Troy's will. Kelly by late stoppage.

Kelly should outbox Williamson all day long but he gets hit too much and he won’t.

Kelly walks the first few rounds and once Williamson hurts him the tide will turn and Williamson will snuff him out badly.

Williamson by comprehensive stoppage between 6-9

Troy Williamson: "Josh Kelly Lacks Heart, He's in For a Tough Night!"

Williamson did not hold back at Wednesday’s press conference and accused Kelly of lacking heart.

“All I need to do is turn up and perform," Williamson said. “The hard work has been done. I’m hitting tremendous numbers with my strength and conditioning and even out on runs; I’m in a great position mentally and physically. You’re going to see on fight night.

“I’ve said it before, I probably don’t need to say it again, but I believe he lacks heart. I feel it’s bred in people, one thing’s for certain is that it’s bred in me, but we’re going to see on Friday if Josh has got it because I’m going to take him to deep waters. He’s in for a tough night.

“I’m not necessarily going in there to try and take him out. A lot of people underestimate my boxing skills, I’ve been a part of Team GB and boxed elite amateurs around the world, so don’t underestimate my boxing. I can box, and don’t for a moment think I can’t out-box Josh Kelly.”

“I wouldn’t say there’s bad blood, but everyone is tuning in to see me though,” Williamson said.

Kelly says that Williamson would be foolish to try to outbox him

“I’d like to see him do it,” Kelly said. “If he wants to try and box me that’ll be good, he’ll be a silly man to do that but I think it’s going to go how I want it to go on the night.

“All of the pressure is on Troy. I’ve operated at top levels, I’ve boxed at Madison Square Garden, I’ve been with ex-world champions. I know exactly what these big events are like with the pressure it brings, when he walks to that ring he’s going to feel it on Friday night.

“If you look at Troy, then look at me, there’s things I do better. Stylistically it’s a great matchup. Troy comes forward and tries to fight, I box, so it makes for good television. When you go and watch fights you either like the fighter or you like the boxer, and I think that’s why everyone wants to tune in.

“When I’ve thought about this fight, I’ve seen Troy hurt.”

I unfortunately AGREE with you.

I really want Troy to win but feel his defence is weak taking into how good Kelly looks in the early rounds.

It is a very intriguing fight.

I think Williamson’s very basic & very hittable & has shown he can be hurt at British level.

I think Kelly will have a bit more energy & snap in his punches at a weight higher & I think there’s a significant difference in ability between Avenesyan & Williamson.

Basically I expect Kelly to be able to land at will on Williamson & hurt & stop him after a few rounds of it.

If Williamson can survive & have something left in the later rounds then I can see him potentially getting a late stoppage but I think Kelly by stoppage or even Kelly hanging on to win clear on points are more likely outcomes.

No but not seen much about it. Have they weighed in?

Only thing I heard was on BN pod yesterday when Matt C said if Booth has any doubts about Kelly's mentality it won't happen.

With this headliner, Arthur vs McIntyre, and those two HWs rematching, not a bad card for a two hour Friday night slot on Ch5.

I imagine Kelly making Troy look silly at times, missing a lot but will ultimately fade and get stopped late on.

So Troy’s a slow starter and can get caught and hurt early, and Kelly is a fast & sharp starter and that left hook could get Troy in trouble early i think. He’s tough though, and if Josh don’t get him out of there early he’s in for a rough night -
But Josh will be desperate to hang in there after the accusations of being a quitter, so he might just show a different side we haven’t seen before on Friday night. Excellent fight
