Arthur Abraham, Michael Nunn, Omar Narvaez and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad are added as first time ballot on the IBHOF
Before the announcement for the 2023 International Boxing Hall of Fame on Wednesday December 7, 20022, the 3 boxers are on the first time ballot for the IBHOF for the modern category were Arthur Abrabam, Omar Narvaez and Michael "Second To" Nunn while former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad was added to the late era Old-Timer category as he last fight was in 1988, which was the last year for the boxer who fought in the late era old-timer under the criteria of the new rule for the IBHOF.

So Eddie Mustafa Muhammad wasn't good enough to get in for the last 29 years, but he is now. Standards are slipping at the IBHOF in my opinion.scorpio83 wrote: ↑02 Dec 2022, 08:20 Before the announcement for the 2023 International Boxing Hall of Fame on Wednesday December 7, 20022, the 3 boxers are on the first time ballot for the IBHOF for the modern category were Arthur Abrabam, Omar Narvaez and Michael "Second To" Nunn while former WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad was added to the late era Old-Timer category as he last fight was in 1988, which was the last year for the boxer who fought in the late era old-timer under the criteria of the new rule for the IBHOF.

In Eddie Mustafa Muhammad case, I think it has been an oversight. I have been pushing him for many years. Couldn't believe it when I found out a few years ago that he wasn't even on the ballot.
Mathew Saad Muhammad has been in since 1998 and nobody questions him being in. If you argue that Saad was better (Mustafa beat him head to head) it has to be very close.

I do think there is a biased towards US fighters. I don't think either of the Muhammad's (Eddie and Matthew) deserve to be in ahead of Dariusz Michalczewski.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑02 Dec 2022, 12:09 In Eddie Mustafa Muhammad case, I think it has been an oversight. I think Michalczewski will make it in the next few years.

Nunn and EMM are deserving in my eyes. Not so sure on Abraham or Navarez.
Navarez in borderline but I do not see the argument for Abraham

Abraham will make it someday. The number of title defenses (regardless of who they were against) factor will get him in.

Narváez is overlooked because he lost to three bigger fighters in high profile fights but he was superb technician as a flyweight - his natural weight - in particular. Too bad he never got matched with Pong Wonjongkam but Pong wouldn’t fight outside of Asia and Narváez only fought in the Americas and Europe. He made something like 25 defenses of two belts. I probably saw about 10 of them and he looked like the real deal

If Dariusz was going to get in........he already would be.

Bradley, Froch and Marquez are the 2023 inductees.

If number of title defenses carried fighters into the hof Dariusz and his division record 23 defenses would have been in a long time ago.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑06 Dec 2022, 16:46 Abraham will make it someday. The number of title defenses (regardless of who they were against) factor will get him in.

Abraham and Nunn definitely got the best shot there.
Are bigger names on the ballot though?
