Adam Booth did a masterful job in the corner last night. Keeping him calm, keeping him focused, paced and breathing correctly.

Looked like Kelly was gonna blow Williamson away in a round or 2 initially but Williamson caught him with a big right at end of 4th and I thought that might be catalyst for a comeback but Kelly elected to box , opened Williamson up a couple times later but boxed and moved for the 12 rounds

Showboating also hit a nerve for some who took to social media to comment.

One said: “F****** despise Josh Kelly. He does not have the talent to back up his arrogance. Absolute bell.”

Another added: “Josh Kelly and Adam Booth might be the most arrogant for no reason fighter trainer combo in history.”

A third stated: “I personally love a bit of showboating, cockiness and all that, but Josh Kelly just proper irks me and always has.”

Some defended Kelly, though, as he took every round from Troy Williamson.

“Josh Kelly just badly schooled Troy Williamson. Shame it wasn’t a stoppage.”

“That was fantastic from Josh Kelly. I did everything right, simple. 12-0 – a complete shutout.”

One of Troy's brothers was arrested for throwing two chairs and one hitting a pregnant woman. One guy got stamped by a a bunch of lads for asking a girl (who he knew) how she was following a family bereavement. And finally there was a 20 man brawl between the Mackems and the Boro/Darlo lads.

He's getting a proper hiding if he ever gets a crack at a world title. Both of them looked miles away from anything aproaching world-class boxing.
:salut:
But as a British title fight, it was good. Kelly has already been found wanting at Euro level. He could well some day get the European if Ava drops it.
I thought it was poor for British level to be honest. Williamson didn't seem to have a clue about feints or setting up his shots and his punches seemed pedestrian. Kelly threw some shocking haymakers and his "elusiveness" was more to do with Williamson's predictability than Kelly's supposed preternatural abibilities. Kelly never beats a solid European level boxer.

Yeah.
I actually like his schtick, but - like him or not - he's clearly a great cornerman generally, and particularly last night.

Keeping his fighter calm and confident and making sure he uses breathing techniques between rounds, which is something a lot of top trainers do. You know your boxing mate, I'm surprised you can't see great corner work when you see it.

If Booth genuinely believes Josh Kelly can get to world level he's as deluded as his boxer and that makes me question his judgement and ability as a coach.

Come on mate, he's hardly going to say, "British level is all he's good for, he'll never make it at world level." That's never going to happen.

For what it's worth, I think Kelly will be a genuine top ten contender by the end of next year.

What do you expect him to say TT ?
"That's clearly my clients limit - he should retire now!"

Besides, he just won a Brit title 119-109 against a KO artist.
A few more wins like that and some improvement.., he'll likely win a Euro Title and get a shot at least.

He might get in the top ten, but he won't and never will be a genuine threat to anyone at genuine world level.

Blowing smoke up a boxer's arse isn't good coaching. If Booth is as deluded about his(Kelly's)abilities as Kelly clearly is then they're not doing each other any favours.

Extremely weird. He's like a creepy cult leader. Quite fitting as Josh Kelly's mannerisms and overweening confidence put me in mind of notorious "Scientologist" Tom Cruise.
