Define fixed, ensuring one fighter wins? Or stacking the deck in his favour?

Not officially fixed, but would have turned out very differently if the roles were reversed.

Would you rather Dubois had done a Zach Parker?

The three knockdown rule was ignored, the round ended early.

If that’s not fixed then I don’t know what is.

The four voting no, what’s your reasons for the above happening for the home fighter?

Boxing fans are thick as shite.

For a lot of people it's OK because it happened to a Brit.

The same people pop up complaining about corruption in other sports/countries.

Either you're against corruption or you're not.

I'll be honest I never noticed the round end early, I watched the fight on my stick so couldn't rewind it after seeing on here it was a quick round, if it did end early then there has to be an investigation

As for the 3 knockdown rule, I know it's in the WBA rules but was it in effect on a BBBC show? On British shows featuring any of the ABC baubles we still have to make do with shitty Tech Draws when an accidental foul stops a fight before the 4th

Also Foster stopped the fight after the bell had ended the round. Obviously none of this chicanery is happening if Lerena was the home fighter.

Did they show the rules before the fight started?

They do it a lot in USA.

They’ll tell us and show us on the screen.

And it usually said 3 knockdown rule not in affect etc.

I don’t recall UK shows doing that.

Seen the stoppage and it's one of those that the ref stops it or calls a knockdown as ropes holding boxer up.
Dubois was unloading and the South African was doing the loose head wobble , so I'd say it was an ok stoppage.

Round ended at least 10 seconds early. Bell had rang for end if the 3rd when the fight was stopped.

If the Saffa had gone down twice on his own accord the ref would have waved it off.

Dubois was a very lucky boy.

Definitely fixed

Maybe not FIXED. But it was dodgy.

When I say NOT fixed, I mean it was probably supposed to be a nice KO win for DDD.

But when shit hit the fan, they started changing rules.

So yeh, call it a fix overall.

The 3 knockdown rule is NEVER in effect in a British ring.
In terms of stopping a contest, the referee has the sole responsibility of judging if the boxer is fit or safe to continue. The time left in a round is both unknown and irrelevant to the referee as generally “fit or safe to continue” often relates to the possible consequences of one more blow (ie the next second in a lot of cases)
Whether the bell was heard in that moment of intervention was debatable but I’m guessing the responsibility to take action before any further damage was caused was Fosters priority.

Are you even allowed to be counted if you go down when a punch isn't landed?

What if you get hit with a shot, take an 8 count, ref waves fight on, then you take a knee for another 8 count?

It was a bizarre fight. Larena just stopped throwing in the second when Dubois was there for the taking. I don't think someone like Chisora would have let Dubois off the hook. Definitely an odd fight. I didn't have Larena dropping him 3 times on my bingo card. Maybe the Joyce fight damaged something inside of him?

And is it right the bell doesn't save a boxer in any round or maybe does in the last round. It looked like he jumped in as the bell rang

Wouldn't say it was a fixed fight. Certainly not in the traditional sense where the result is agreed in advance.

But I would say it was extremely biased refereeing.

If the roles had been reversed then there would have been a stoppage in the first round. And probably a count rather than a stoppage in the third.

Sadly this type of thing happens on just about every show these days, regardless of promoter.

So, like, Lorena was there to throw the fight but accidentally ended up with a 10-5 opening round because of weird circumstances, backed up in the 2nd and then allowed his head to be basically punched off his shoulders so that Foster could step in and stop it?

That’s a fixed fight: one guy is paid to lose. Banks vs Seth Mitchell 2 was a very obviously fixed fight where Banks almost KO’d Mitchell again early on without even trying and then tapped away for the rest of the match to lose on points.

The early bell was iffy. The stoppage wasn’t that bad. Dubois really unloaded on the kid.

I still don’t get what happened in the first though? It doesn’t look like much of a shot? Equilibrium gone which made him do a Zab dance, or some sort of leg injury? He seemed alright in the 3rd. It was very odd.

Right at the bottom of the web page is Rules and Regulations…all boxing fans should take the 5-10 mins to read. (This isn’t a sarcastic post, it’s just surprising how much people don’t know. Mind you, I didn’t realise the circumstance of the ball had to be off the field of play and I’ve watched football as long as boxing 🤣)

Yeah, in the first scenario I’m sure it’s not the first time we’ve all seen a strategic knee.

In the second scenario, I guess if you beat a count only to immediately go down for another one you’d expect to get waved off, wouldn’t you? You’ve shown you’re not capable of fighting.

First round was tough to tell if Dubs was hurt or something went wonky with his legs, ,especially on the latter two times he took a knee.

The end was clearly the ref focusing on Lerena's bobble head act. He was taking a ton of punishment.

Really?
There are levels of favouritism towards the home fighter, and many of these levels are short of fixed.
Obviously on Saturday the levels of favouritism were at least very high.
Foster has no excuse for not stopping it after the 3rd knockdown.
The time keeper has no excuse for stopping the round early either.
Was the opponent in on it too?
After the first knockdown, he was barely responsible for the other knockdowns and didn't go after DDD in the second.

Surely wasn't it under WBA rules?
