Tim Bradley, Carl Froch, Rafael Marquez, Pone Kingpetch and Tiger Jack Fox were elected to the 2023 IBHOF
The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced that the class of 2023 would be headlined by former junior welterweight and welterweight champion Tim Bradley, former super middleweight champion Carl Froch and former bantamweight and junior featherweight champion Rafael Marquez who were elected under the Modern category while the first Thai boxing champion and three-time flyweight champion Pone Kingpetch and light heavyweight contender Tiger Jack Fox were elected under the Old-Timer category. What do you guys think?

I think I remember seeing the ballot for this one. I have no objection for the most part with who got in. I wanna say James Toney was on the ballot, and still ain't got in which is criminal, but all the other guys are worthy. Bradley is the one that's closest to not being worthy, but I think he's in by a hair.

Pleased for Froch....he had a great run and was a good champion who often won the hard way and on the road.
Came up short against Ward but that's no disgrace and I wish the Calzaghe match-up had happened.
Loved the way he dismantled Bute and regrouped to beat Kessler in a rematch. Lots of other good names in there.
Carl was not that pretty but he was darn effective in his own unique way.

Toney is already in.

Rafael Marquez belongs. Froch & Bradley, IMO, should only get in with a ticket. Michael Nunn, Israel Vazquez, Ivan Calderon, Pongsaklek Wonjongkam, Gilberto Roman, Dariusz Michalczewski, Santos Laciar amongst others, far more deserving.

I would love to hear the justification for Fox getting in.
Froch and Bradley dont deserve it. Decent fighters but jesus, if those guys get in the hall of fame you might as well let in every paper champ and top contender throughout history... which they eventually will to keep justifying meaningless induction weekends every year and continue the money rolling into the Brophy family piggy bank.

Unfortunately, this is how it's been going. With a few notable exceptions, like the last three classes, they are all watered down classes, with perhaps one clearly deserving inductee in the modern category. Carl Froch will sell more tickets and is more know to the voters (of whom I'd say less than 10% are truly qualified)than a Lou Salica, a Lionel Rose, or a Gilberto Roman to name a few. Danny Garcia is another who'll be considered a "shoe-in" when he's eligible, as will someone like Keith Thurman, because it's too watered down. They held paper trinkets, which trumps great careers of actually deserving greats who maybe never won a title or won "only one world title." I honestly don't even know what Bradley has had a better career than Ike Quartey, Vernon Forrest, Ricardo Mayorga, to name a few modern welter champs who won't get near it and aren't truly HOF class guys.klompton wrote: ↑07 Dec 2022, 18:24 I would love to hear the justification for Fox getting in.

Maybe they should make the IBHOF like The World Cup and do it once every four years.

Wongjongkam may have a case. Vazquez I feel is at least AS accomplished as Marquez, so if Marquez belongs then he belongs.chrisjs1985 wrote: ↑07 Dec 2022, 17:54 Rafael Marquez belongs. The biggest problem Wongjongkam and Calderon have against them is they're fighting in a weight class that makes them all but invisible to any except the most hardcore of all hardcore fans.

One thing that has always sucked is that it is so hard to find the breakdown of the voting.
In other sports, the articles always say how votes a the guy elected got and how many a few guys who didn't had. In boxing, it's almost impossible to find. (If anyone sees that in an article, please send a link)
It makes it look like the voters all meet together beforehand and figure out what guys will make the most news if elected.
