I've always said Fury will play with Joshua and dominate him. I think AJ has a 1 in 10 chance of beating him. Is that unbiased enough for you?

To be honest, I think there could be a school of thought (in a weird way) that the 2nd loss to Usyk was worse than the first. In that first fight, he was never at the races - looked shell shocked and out of ideas from the off. In the rematch he started brightly and while he had more moments and it was undoubtedly a closer fight - the manner in which Usyk just showed he is a level above was possibly more alarming.

The first fight he could have blamed illness, poor prep, poor tactics, over confidence or anything - as he lost the opening round and Usyk just fiddled his way to a wide points win with Joshua seemingly doing nothing. In the rematch he started brightly but still ended up losing pretty comfortably - so hard to really blame anything.

However, he needed to be fighting WAY before March 2023 - why is he only fighting once a year. He was going to be out in December originally.

AJ has said he wants the Whyte rematch more than he wants Fury.

Of course he knows Fury isn't gonna fight him in 2023. He has bigger fish to fry next year hopefully.

Doesn't mean he never wants to fight Fury. Just means he in rebuild mode.

If history tells us anything, it's that the dethroned champion should rebuild. Tyson fought Tillman, Holyfield beat Alex Stewart, etc etc. After losing back to back title fights, the only person that I can recall not easing back is Larry Holmes.

I think most of us want AJ back in the mix and so if that means a rebuild period so be it .
It wouldnt be sensible to jump back in the deepest end right now anyway .
but no matter who he ends up fighting there will be some haters having a go .

He’s obviously upset at them messing him around and using his name to get publicity.

Not in 2023. He wants Usyk and Joyce.

IF he fights Usyk and Joyce next year.. and he beats them, then does he NEED AJ? Maybe not, but would it still be a big fight and would we still want to see it?

Ofcourse.

How long a rebuild period would you recommend for a 33 year old boxer who fights 1-2 times a year?

Usyk is the only fight that he needs to cement his legacy IMO. Personally I think Usyk will beat Fury and then win the rematch if there is one. Win or lose, a rejuvenated AJ would be worth the training camp, especially when Fury is so heavily favoured to beat him.

Regardless of how often he fights, I think he should have 2 or 3 before he fights Fury. Franklin, Whyte, then Wilder would be the right course of action IMO. It's easy for me to say Wilder, but that is not an easy fight to make. If not, Wallin, Hrgovic or someone who's on the up by that time.

Are you going in deep, Keith, Povetkin style, for the Usyk win?

 I still have PTSD from that. I only gamble once or twice per year, so maybe. Mrs Hangover told me off for not betting on Usyk in the first AJ fight. I was absolutely convinced he would win and that was cemented by AJ's ring walk when he hugged a woman on the way to the ring. I think the ring walk is important, but Fury, Naz and many others weren't focused on the way to the ring and it didn't do them any harm. Maybe I'm overthinking it. I'm fairly obsessed with a boxer looking cold during the announcements and most of the time it makes absolutely no difference.

No, in every interview he’s said he wants Usyk next. Nobody has said any different (except Dave Allen, David Price and a McDermott trilogy if that doesn’t come off).

If there's one thing that we've learned, it's that a lot of what Fury says is complete nonsense.

take stock this time next year after he is back in the ring a few times .
TBH I feel the non boxing stuff like sponsorships etc are a bit of a distraction .
