2022 Fighter of the Year
Who has the most impressive year in 2022?
I made this thread on boxingforum24 yesterday, I'll make it here as well.

It’s a shame some only fought once this year.
Has to be Bivol though.

Yes, many boxers are wasting their prime years by fighting only once per year.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Dec 2022, 15:20 It’s a shame some only fought once this year.

In many cases they want to fight more often, but their promoters are slow to make events. Sometimes it's a lack of TV dates. And in a few cases, highly-paid boxers don't want to fight more often than once per year.
Re: 2022 Fighter of the Year
Two people so far chose Usyk. While his one rematch win was fine, and i am definitely a fan, could you please verbalize why that one rematch win makes him fighter of the year over, say, Monster, or Bivol who easily beat Canelo and an undefeated Ramirez, or even Shakur Stevenson, who almost shut out a 30-0 , longtime beltholder in Valdez and beat another contender as well?

Bivol. No doubter.
Re: 2022 Fighter of the Year
Perkie is such a tight arse with just the one vote. He's like the relative you have to shout at because he won't turn his hearing aids on, least they wear out the batteries

I tried to include every possible boxer that someone might choose in the poll,
He had a good year, three stoppage wins against decent opposition, many fighters fought only once.

Re: 2022 Fighter of the Year
no one else touches bivol dominating top level fighters like he did. canelo (arguably p4p #1) + ram (top 3-5 at 175) is superior to any other resume this year and he did it in style
id be inclined to have shak second, although blowing weight hurts his case a bit

Mark me down as another one for the obvious choice.
Bivol

There's no one as dominant as Inoue.
No one even coming close.

Re: 2022 Fighter of the Year
handily beating canelo + ramiriez > doing the same to donaire in a rematch and paul butler
Re: 2022 Fighter of the Year
Yeah Inoue wins were more dominant, because it was KOs, but Canelo is far better name than Donaire and Ramirez far better than Butler IMOmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑19 Dec 2022, 14:47 handily beating canelo + ramiriez > doing the same to donaire in a rematch and paul butler

Re: 2022 Fighter of the Year
Bivol wins. pretty clear for me. I dont think there was anyone else close really.
as for 2nd....... Shakur might have been, but he missed weight and that pisses me off. inoue got undisputed but not really excelent competition, estrada would be a reasonable 2nd, jai opetia has to go close but only 1 fight hurts. catteral deserves to be sniffing about but instead he has been absolutly Fukked. and usyk beating AJ off the back of a litteral war probably deserves mention..... cant pick a clear 2nd, noone jumps out at me.
hopefuly next year there will be 6 or 7 people with a legit claim to be fighter of the year.
EDIT: Actualy haney probably gotta be 2nd. the fact that i completly forgot about him which seems to unusual for a 2nd fighter of the year, but the reason he has been forgoten is he made it all look tooo easy.... but he won undusputed in dominant fashion far away from home. then he defended it in a rematch in dominant fashion far away from home. Kambo is a bit of a weak undisputed mabey, but he is far from a paul buttler....

Most people here select Bivol.

Bivol.
Haney, Inoue, and then any combination of Bam/Stevenson/Fury/Estrada rounding out the top 5.

Re: 2022 Fighter of the Year
Fury has dominated the Heavyweight division for some time, he's got to be up there.

Re: 2022 Fighter of the Year
Bivol - hands down- he's the new "Mexicutioner". Benavidez should get in line for a whooping too.
Usyk, Inoue and Haney are close to that spot too.
