I remember that. I think he did something similar in Round 5. I was quite shocked. Very impressive composure, and durability, from Fury; that must have hurt.

Re: worst foulers in boxing history
I hated Ward when he was fighting. Really hated him.
In recent years I’ve come around to him being a great fighter and a hard man.
Watching that video takes me back to hating the cheating entitled prick again. A terrible cheat. I don’t mind a bit of rough stuff in the ring- let the boys fight- but putting the head in and bollock punches are scummy things to do. Heading someone is so dangerous- even in something like Kudo, where they are allowed, the fighters wear a special head guard so they don’t get cut to bits.
I’d forgotten just how bad the Kov 2 stoppage was. Disgusting. I’ve never watched it back as it depressed me so much on the night: watching it again wow it’s hard to believe isn’t it?
Re: worst foulers in boxing history
Don’t forget the spongy ring and thinking that nobody needed to see his hands being wrapped. Wlad is talked about as a gentleman and a credit to the sport but he was quite the cheat and you have to wonder what else he got away with before the gypsies called him out on his tricks.
Re: worst foulers in boxing history
Kessler showed up wanting to fight Queensbury and got cut to ribbons with heads and forearms. He was really badly hurt and lost his titles. His win against Froch was good. He was dirty as hell but I like him as a punditCyclops wrote: ↑14 Dec 2022, 19:23I hated Ward when he was fighting. Really hated him.

Plus the excessive holding. He should have been dqed in the Povetkin fight.Cyclops wrote: ↑14 Dec 2022, 19:27Don’t forget the spongy ring and thinking that nobody needed to see his hands being wrapped. Re: worst foulers in boxing history
Remember him in that dreary wbo fight where he spent more time hitting the other guy’s gloves away?

I completely forgot his name until about an Hour ago.

I'm surprised Bruno hasn't been mentioned!!... His hitting & holding, and rabbit punching was dreadful, and he always Seemed to get away with it.

Re: worst foulers in boxing history
Yeah terrible rabbit puncher. Quite sly with it too.
I kinda love that shot from Lenny where he held his chin with the left before smashing the right in

Re: worst foulers in boxing history
I know it sounds like a strange thing to say but I just think Wlad was a very fearful fighter. He always stacked the deck in his favour and was hardly ever in tough fights because he was superior technically and could just win at range using his length and jab and 1-2 against pretty poor opposition. Faced with any adversity whatsoever he was crumbling. He was just a bully in my book and very lucky to be active in a horrible division at the time. Vitali was the natural fighter of the two.

Ward is an elite talent but that billygoat rocket head butt to Kessler was nasty, Kessler had eye damage too

‘Dirty’ Josh Warrington should be thrown out of boxing, says champ
Luis Alberto Lopez, who defeated Josh Warrington and took his world title, called for the Leeds man to be banished from the sport.
“Venado” Lopez is not interested in a rematch with Warrington because he considers him “a very dirty fighter.”
“No, I never would [fight Josh Warrington again],” Venado Lopez told IZQUIERDAZO. “To be honest, he [Warrington] is a very dirty fighter.
“He has no respect. He doesn’t deserve to be in professional boxing. With his fighting style, he can cause an accident for other boxers.
“With that style, he shouldn’t be allowed in boxing.”
During the fight, an accidental clash of heads caused a cut in Lopez’s left eye, but the Mexican also complained about being hit behind the head and in the legs.
“I watched it again [the fight]. But I was angry,” Lopez revealed. “I saw Warrington punching me in the legs. In his corner, he said he would keep doing that.”
In addition, on Twitter, Lopez posted some subtitled screenshots of the video feed where Warrington can be seen accepting that he was punching him in the legs.
“Sadly, these unfair things keep happening in boxing,” Lopez said. “I don’t know when they will put a limit. The commissions, the people in boxing. I’m sad about that.”
Eddie Hearn argument
Lopez also reveals that he argued with Josh Warrington and Eddie Hearn at the end of the fight.
“I was arguing with them when the fight was over,” Lopez said. “I argued with Eddie Hearn.
“He told me I should have been deducted a point because I was clinching too much. All nonsense”.
Luis Alberto Lopez is not contractually bound to fight Josh Warrington again since there was no rematch clause.
“There is not a rematch clause,” Lopez said. “They had other plans, so they didn’t put one.
“I told them to be careful because I like to ruin others’ plans, and you can see what happened.
“It’s an honor to show the British that Mexico rules in boxing and that we are a powerhouse in boxing. I’m proud to represent my country and put it in high standard.”

While Kovalev's fragile mindset no doubt contributed to his demise it still baffles me to to this day how comfortable people are with this fight. Tony Weeks was an utter disgrace. He let Ward get away with murder as Kovalev crumbled.Cyclops wrote: ↑14 Dec 2022, 19:23I hated Ward when he was fighting. Really hated him.

You make him seem one dimensional.
He has the full repertoire.
Heads, elbows, forearms and low blows
