What sort of view do you reckon we’re getting in the cheap seats at the O2?
No. Frank’s recent shows cheapest is £50 or £55

Matchroom still have their cheapest tickets at £40 last time I checked.

They’re using a small arena so they probably want to get the same amount of gate as if it was O2 arena.

Ah thanks for clearing that up, Should be quite an electric night, short and violent. I’ll probably go, I reckon this wont attract the casuals?
Yarde has zero profile outside the fighttrade, also they won’t know about the main man either.. I imagine it will be a real boxing crowd

The cheapest ticket will still get you a decent view. Wembley Arena is old, but very compact so no binoculars needed.

Undercard Press Release

As Boxing Scene previously reported, the WBA flyweight championship clash between the champion Artem Dalakian from Ukraine and Costa Rican challenger David Jiminez will take place in support of the forthcoming Artur Beterbiev-Anthony Yarde showdown at the OVO Arena, Wembley on January 28, live on BT Sport.

Ilford man Yarde challenges for the WBC, WBO and IBF world light heavyweight titles held by the undefeated Montreal resident, who holds a record of 18 wins with all 18 coming via a stoppage.

Dalakian, 35, won his world title belt in February 2018 with a points victory over Brian Viloria and has subsequently made five successful defences. He is unbeaten in 21 professional fights, with 15 of his wins coming via stoppage.

Jiminez, 30, has previously won the WBA Latino title and the WBA Gold world flyweight championship and is unbeaten in 12, with nine KOs.

Also on the bill and in title action against opponents to be confirmed shortly, light heavyweight star in the making Karol Itauma (9-0, 7 KOs) will fight for a first professional belt with the WBC International title being on the line and, also at light heavy, Willy Hutchinson (15-1, 11) will battle for the WBO Intercontinental championship.

A clutch of Queensberry's top young prospects have secured a spot on the card.

The prospects on parade are 11-times National champion as an amateur, Charles Frankham, who was also a World Youth Championship bronze medallist and winner of gold at the Commonwealth Games and European Championships.

The 23-year-old Charles - known as 'Boom Boom' - is currently 6-0 in the professional ranks and making significant improvements under the guidance of new trainer Roger Lee.

Charles' first cousin, Joshua Frankham, will also feature at Wembley, with the four-times National champion and former England international having his seventh professional fight after illness ruled him out of a November appearance at The O2.

Big-hitting cruiserweight Tommy Fletcher will have his fourth pro fight. The 20-year-old 'Norfolk Nightmare' has sent ripples through the division with three mighty knockouts to date, with two of them coming in the first round.

Last time out in November he poleaxed the Czech Jiri Krejci with a punishing left uppercut to close his show at The O2.

The 5-0 featherweight Umar Khan, 20, returns to action after impressing at York Hall in November with a shutout victory over Alexander Taylor, along with the hugely popular Brick Lane southpaw Khalid Ali.

The 4-0 'Bengal Tiger' was last in the ring back in September when he outpointed Dario Borosa via a 60-54 margin at York Hall.

Another welterweight, Sean Noakes, will have his fourth fight as a professional after a successful first year of three four-rounders that resulted in two shutout victories and a second round stoppage for the Maidstone man.

Is Yarde not just a British level fighter with a very padded record? He seems just to be heavily rewarded for being good at stopping journeyman.

Local fighter to me Callum Simpson been out sparring Beterbiev for a couple of weeks. According to him he’s equipping himself well which I don’t thinks a surprise as he has a good chance of going very far in the game

I got an email last night about tickets for this. It really hasnt sold well at all. Why is London such a hard sell? Most of the people who flock in for the big 'casual' shows are from outside the capital.

Yarde has never sold in big volumes. It’s a good fight but the tickets are expensive and people are struggling financially more than any other time in the last 30 years or so. A night out for the boxing is expensive when food and drink are added to an already pricey ticket. January is also a tough month for a lot of people as the gap in salary payments is usually wider.

It takes either a really big name or a massive show to get people to buy in London at the moment. Bar a few exceptions they don’t really get behind their own like some cities do (Leeds and Warrington and several others). Johnny Fisher’s the only one I can think of that people get behind and even he’s selling less now than he was at the start of the year.

Tunde was saying when this fight was announced that he expects it to sell out straight away and that he’d be on to Frank to get him to move it to the O2. Delusion.

He's a hype job, but his biggest problem is Tunde. He's a terrible cornerman. Lions in the camp, empty the tank etc.

I don’t think he is a hype job. He’s got something. Just horrendous luck in his private life and being woefully prepared for a step up has hindered him.

Yarde is very good, I think he'll come up short against possibly the p4p best, but he could be world champion yet.

This. Plus it's a shit location compared to somewhere like the 02 or Copperbox.

All good points about why this isn't selling.

It would have been better in somewhere like Birmingham to be honest where with a couple of ticket sellers and 2-3,000 boxing fans who could be drawn from a 90 minute drive to watch an absolute elite talent like Beterbiev, they would get somewhere close to filling an arena.

Queensberry are so poor at this but also it's clear that Matchroom are finding it increasingly difficult to sell shows like they used to.

Yeah. If it had been Birmingham I’d have gone to it as it’s not too far for me. Very few people would be wanting to travel to London for this as it’s a hotel (I stayed at the Travellodge next to Euston the other week for work - over £200 for one night), late drive back or risk a late train. All options expensive in the current climate and I’d never risk a late train on one of Frank’s shows.

Agree that Queensbury seem to be struggling more than others. All promoters are struggling. The last Wasserman show at York Hall had tickets still available on the day. For Matchroom it looks like they’ll focus slightly away from London. 2 signings this week from the Midlands. The lad yesterday is supposedly a big ticket seller but who knows what that means today and they look like wanting to have Newcastle as a regular market again.

Queensbury aren’t helping themselves by not having ‘cheaper’ tickets. Their cheapest for this one is £65 and they have loads of tickets in the upper tier still available at £90+. They’d be better off charging £40 as a starting price and make a genuine attempt to pack the place. Was similar for the Parker/Ryder fight which was even more crazy to hold in London and at the O2 of all places.

If posters on here are not buying tickets then it's no surprise the casuals won't,the impending financial crash is going to see a lot of empty seats at all sorts of sporting events.
