Unusual or bizarre stoppage losses
Fights where a fighter lost by stoppage when they were either favourite to win or ordinarily durable. Not the obvious picks like Curry or Tyson but the more rare one off losses.
Ones that spring to mind are the normally durable Kalambay being sparked in one round by Nunn (the only time he was stopped)
The then undefeated Badou Jack being stopped in one round by the unknown Derek Edwards, still the only time he was stopped.
Other suggestions?

One of the most bizarre finishes that I can think of was the human anvil Tex Cobb getting dropped like four times in a single round by Dee Collier. Never seen film of the fight or anything but it always made me wonder if Cobb didn't take a dive.

Good shout. I used to wonder if he threw it too but the fight report suggests it was a legit stoppage, just caught early and never recovered.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑03 Jan 2023, 21:36 One of the most bizarre finishes that I can think of was the human anvil Tex Cobb getting dropped like four times in a single round by Dee Collier. Maybe not so strange with hindsight but David Haye being stopped in his first ever loss by the hard hitting Carl Thompson was unexpected.

Doesn't mean it's true.Controversial wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 11:25Didn’t he later admit to throwing the fight to get out his contract with King?

That guy that I can't be bothered to google who sparked Juan Urango with one punch.
Alexander something ? that ended up being an Oxy addict.
Urango looked like a tank that stood up to everyone and *Alex?* wasn't a noted puncher.
Edit - Devon Alexander "The Great" - I just googled.

Yeah of course, he wouldn't be the first fighter to make excuses.

By dive he may have meant making no real effort to avoid the punches rather than the punches having no effect.Controversial wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 18:34Yeah he took some big puncheshhaehre wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 17:11That ko looked legit to me.Controversial wrote: ↑04 Jan 2023, 12:38

Tommy Morrison against Michael Bent comes to mind...
Re: Unusual or bizarre stoppage losses
Kassim Ouma who was always very tough in his heyday losing via 1st round KO to Agustin Silva is unusual.
Oliver McCall's loss to Lennox Lewis surely counts as Bizarre, possibly the MOST bizarre
Marco Antonio Barrera's cornermen coming in throwing water at Junior Jones as if he was committing some kinda crime in their 1st fight was really unusual. It's technically a DQ win for Junior Jones because the cornermen made it a DQ by entering the ring, but when you see that it's pretty much a TKO.

Good ones.
Herbie Hide being stopped in 2 by Joseph Chingangu was a bit odd at the time as Hide was expected to win. Hide knocked him out in the first round in the rematch.
Re: Unusual or bizarre stoppage losses
Ryan Burnett back injury against Nonito Donaire. Did something like that happened in another high profile fight ?
Re: Unusual or bizarre stoppage losses
Mark Young took a dive against Mike Tyson in their 1985 bout.

Tomas Molinares win over Marlon Starling was bizarre IMO. The result got changed, but it was bizarre non the less.

Yeah, clearly after the bell, but Starling was throwing a punch at the same time.Controversial wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 10:49I can remember watching that at the time, hit him after the bell didn't he?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 09:58 Tomas Molinares win over Marlon Starling was bizarre IMO. No he wasn't. Watch again. Starling dropped his hands because the bell rang. Molinares had a clean shot after the bell.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 11:22Yeah, clearly after the bell, but Starling was throwing a punch at the same time.Controversial wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 10:49I can remember watching that at the time, hit him after the bell didn't he?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 09:58 Tomas Molinares win over Marlon Starling was bizarre IMO.
