Imagine Plant outboxing the so hyped Benavidez. This fight will tell us how good Benavidez is.

Interesting contrast in styles. I think Plant is an excellent boxer, more flashy, good feet. Benevidez is busier, more basic perhaps, but also a great boxer. I'm guessing it will come down to stamina with Plant, because he'll be on his bike. If DB catches up with him at some point he'll stop him. Too relentless, big motor.

I think this fight is gonna be very competitive.

Likely won't buy it as ppv's have gone crazy and made me avoid the sport to a certain degree.

Jermall Charlo Hoping He Faces Benavidez vs. Plant Winner

While 2022 might still be on the calendar, 2023 has Jermall Charlo’s full attention.

By and large, due to a nagging back injury and personal issues, Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) has been forced to sit idly by on the sidelines. His WBC middleweight title, though still firmly in his possession, has collected a considerable amount of dust.

With a return to the ring in his immediate plans, Charlo has a hunch that his run at 160 pounds is coming to an end. As the truculent Houston native surveys the landscape at 168 pounds, an intriguing showdown has landed steadily on his radar.

Although a date and venue have yet to be revealed, both Caleb Plant and David Benavidez have announced that a showdown between them will take place in the first half of the new year.

Admittedly, while he’s yet to dip his toe in the super middleweight division, Charlo indicates that he would love to swap fists with whomever emerges victoriously.

“Hopefully I get the winner,” said Charlo to FightHub TV. “If they wanna see me they gonna see me.”

Plant, a former IBF titleholder, bounced back nicely after suffering the first defeat of his career at the hands of Canelo Alvarez. The newly turned 30-year-old violently placed his rivalry against Anthony Dirrell to rest, stopping the 38-year-old in the ninth round earlier this year.

As for Benavidez, after making quick work of David Lemieux, the former two-time WBC titlist opted against taking on Jose Uzcategui in lieu of a matchup against Plant. In terms of who Charlo believes will come out with their hands raised in triumph, the former two-division champion paused for a moment while playing the countless possibilities of scenarios in his mind. After pondering to himself, Charlo blurted out his official prediction.

Sampson Lewkowicz announced that WBC interim super middleweight champion David “El Bandera Roja” Benavidez has renewed his exclusive multi-year promotional agreement with Sampson Boxing. The youngest super middleweight to win a world title, the now 25 year-old Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs), is actually a former two-time champion. The Phoenix-based slugger will face former champion Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant in March to decide the WBC mandatory for four-belt world champion Canelo Alvarez. Currently deep in training for the match, Benavidez says he’s happy to continue his promotional relationship with Lewkowicz. “I feel great re-signing with Sampson,” he said during a break. “I’m happy to continue with him and very appreciative for his help building my career from nearly the beginning.”

Father, co-manager and trainer Jose Benavidez says he’s thankful for the well-known promoter’s work on his son’s career. “He (Sampson) was the first to believe in David. Now, everyone wants to sign him. The reason we got those belts is because of the work he put in. We’re super exited to continue this journey and to be able to get these big fights.”

“The team that achieved the youngest super middleweight champ of all time is joined contractually and as a family,” said Benavidez’ co-manager David Garcia. “I’m looking forward to David achieving more than he ever has in the coming years.”

I voted Plant by decision. But would not put money on that. It all depends if Plant punches will affect Benavidez. If not, he will walk him down. But looking forward to this fight

This is not a bad fight on paper and Benavidez usually delivers more than enough entertainment.

Yeh. Plant fought PPV because Canelo is PPV. Doesn’t make Plant PPV.

They need it PPV to pay these guys.
