I have seen people online comparing it to when AJ bravely took on the then unbeaten Gary Cornish. After looking distinctly second best very early on, AJ found the shots to end the Scots challenge.

Just like I didn't watch ( and still haven't seen) Fury vs Chisora III, I will mostly not be watching this fight. Non competitive sport = dullsville.

Another one Fury avoided.mickey1975 wrote: ↑10 Jan 2023, 02:11 I have seen people online comparing it to when AJ bravely took on the then unbeaten Gary Cornish. After looking distinctly second best very early on, AJ found the shots to end the Scots challenge.

Gonna start training camp next week..
But doesn't have an opponent.

James is a good choice for AJ, no?
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. TBA - 1 April 2023?
I think Otto Wallin or Hrgovic would be a much better test than McKean and this level of fight shouldn’t be PPV, but Joshua is allowed a softish bout after two straight defeats…

It's pretty much a must-win and we have no way of knowing which other fighters are available and willing to take the terms offered. I mean, Bruno came back against John Emmen after the Tyson. Fury fought Seferi after the failed drug test. Wlad came back against Fabio Eduardo Moli after the Saunders loss. Moorer came back after Foreman against Melvin Foster.

James and going over to America is a great decision.
AJ coming off 2 defeats, a mini breakdown etc so I make McKean a reasonable come back opponent.

He might be undefeated but I'm having flashbacks to win Tyson Fury Fought the undefeated Tom Schwarz. According to BoxRec this guy is number four in his own country he ain't even the top guy.
This has got to be a massive step down for Joshua in terms of talent and abilities. When was the last time Joshua fought an opponent of this caliber? Gary Cornish?
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. TBA - 1 April 2023?
AJ is coming off of 2 losses. I'd say a soft opponent is fair enough for him at this point. I'm sure he'll be back mixing it up with stiffer challenges soon enough. I got no issue with a guy who's been in tough as often as AJ getting a gimme every now and again. Especially when he's on the heels of 2 defeats.

In my view, Joshua has got the absolute right after 2 fights with Usyk and a host of mandatories (albeit not ones as good as Eddie makes out...) to fight whoever he chooses. A top 30 guy who he can look devastating against is what he needs in my view.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. TBA - 1 April 2023?
I guess he does as all boxers do in such cirumstances - its the PPV element that isnt very palatable .
For me Mckean is a poor option but no doubt he will be able to shout loud in that aussie way and get the pr rolling .
I would prefer he just rolled straight into DW but maybe the strategy with a new trainer coming on just doesnt allow for this .

James is a good choice as trainer, but I would like to know what Robert Garcia did wrong?
Joshua looked much better in the second Usyk fight, despite losing, but he lost to a man who is just superior to him, and no trainer can change that.

He didn't get AJ the win. Whether that's enough to give him the boot is another thing. Maybe they didn't click. I always got the feeling that Josh and Rob had a father-son relationship. I could be wrong.

His interview suggested he wasn’t comfortable with being a yes man.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑11 Jan 2023, 08:29He didn't get AJ the win. Whether that's enough to give him the boot is another thing. Seems to big a step down to me, ok he lost to Usyk but the last fight he looked pretty good and he didnt get battered or anything. Should go straight for Whyte IMO. He would probably win easier than last time and it would sell well.

Eddie wants to leave AJ-Whyte in the oven for a little bit longer.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑11 Jan 2023, 12:04 Seems to big a step down to me, ok he lost to Usyk but the last fight he looked pretty good and he didnt get battered or anything.
