That's a good point. I could see it resembling Wilder vs. Stiverne #1. Ruiz has a good chin so I don't think he'll got KOed.

stiverne is the only notable opponent he's fought in the 6'0-6'2 range and he's also the decision on wilder's record. if we go back further he was dropped hard by 6'2 sconiers, ko'd by 6 foot romanov

i expect long don to win but there's not much of a history of him destroying short guys anymore than he does others

I think Andy was a better boxer pre-AJ. He was a bigger guy but carried it well in the ring and he looked more comfortable. The weight loss has not helped his career.

The guy has been obese for every fight of his career. He had generally looked best at around 255lb, but his best fighting weight could well be sub 220lb for all we know.

I don't think that applies to all short heavyweight, but I do see some similarities between Ruiz and Stiverne. Stiverne probably had a bit more power, but they're similarly sized, both with slow feet and poor stamina. Ruiz has much faster hands, but that may not matter if Wilder can keep him on the outside.

Wilder would likely come in favourite, but the longer it goes the more Ruiz's power could become an important factor in the outcome.
This fight would draw a lot of attention especially if it were promoted correctly.

It'd be a big win for either one of 'em for sure. Wilder could use a few more noteworthy wins on his record. Even though Ruiz is not necessarily the biggest name, he's a former Heavyweight Champion, and would be arguably the biggest win on Wilder's record.

If Ruiz beat Wilder it'd obviously be his biggest win other than AJ, and I'd say it's just as big as AJ if not for the fact that no title would be on the line.
