Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - Spring 2023
Never believed for a second this fight was a done deal, it was a diversion to take the pressure of Davis and Garcia

Looking at April 15 at the Allegiant Stadium.
If not then either T-Mobile or MGM Grand.

Wonder why big fights rarely take place at MSG anymore...Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 11:15 Looking at April 15 at the Allegiant Stadium.

Lack of local interest? Rental costs?

It’s all about Vegas. Has been since the mid 90’s.ashall2 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 12:19Wonder why big fights rarely take place at MSG anymore...Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 11:15 Looking at April 15 at the Allegiant Stadium.

Isn’t it to do with casino’s etc?
I do prefer MSG.
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - Spring 2023
Fair point, I guess the whole casino/strip area does a booming trade on fight week as it’s more of a jolly up. Loved MSG myself but never done Vegas.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 13:15It’s all about Vegas. It’s the costs you have to pay the unions there and it’s also an expensive to advertise.ashall2 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 12:19Wonder why big fights rarely take place at MSG anymore...Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 11:15 Looking at April 15 at the Allegiant Stadium.

I read something that the WWE would be happy to breakeven running a show there.

Loved my night at the MGM.ashall2 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 15:01Fair point, I guess the whole casino/strip area does a booming trade on fight week as it’s more of a jolly up. Loved MSG myself but never done Vegas.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑01 Feb 2023, 13:15It’s all about Vegas. Has been since the mid 90’s.

We were staying in the Signature suites which is attached to the MGM. Golf in the desert in the day time. Watched the prelims on tv with beers. Then the ringwalks started for the co main event - Broner vs John Molina - and we left our rooms and took our seats for the start of round 2 with a couple of those 'tall boys' each. Thurman V Robert Guerro in the main. Stayed on for Abner Mares, blackjack in New York New York then off up the strip and ended in the old town. Something else.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - Spring 2023
A rematch clause for the vacant belt sound awful. Anyway, Davis gotta KO Garcia, who isn't sound enough defensively and throws his amazing speed combos with his chin opened wide.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - Spring 2023
It doesn’t really sound like Oscar’s being unreasonable here.
First fight is lead by Tank’s network in Showtime.
Tank’s team want a rematch clause. Garcia doesn’t. Tank also wants his network to broadcast the potential rematch.
Just seems a bit OTT. If the fight doesn’t happen because of this then it’s on PBC for me.

Crikey. I think Prograis is a harder fight for Garcia and not worth anywhere near the kind of money. I think Oscar’s bluffing.

I think Garcia wins if he doesn't get caught, but I also think he probably would!
So I guess what I'm saying is ‘How badly?’. A stagger, a clinch and a regroup, yes; jelly legs, no.
