Machen survived Liston. I feel that, if he manages to go beyond 3 rounds, that Eddie could pull off a decision over Gerry.

Either Machen out-boxed Cooney behind his jabs and counter combinations to take a decision or Cooney would catch him early with jabs, body shots and his devastating left hook to knock Machen out from rounds 5 to 7 under the 15 round rule as both fighters each went beyond 12 rounds once.
