Berlanga is a bust anyways. I wish he was for real because boxing sure needs some stars.

Super middleweight Edgar Berlanga, Top Rank go their separate ways
Edgar Berlanga and Top Rank have mutually agreed to part ways after months of talks that failed to resolve key issues, Team Berlanga and the promotional company told ESPN. Both sides have signed the separation agreement.
Berlanga (20-0, 16 KOs) is now a promotional free agent. The 25-year-old native of Brooklyn, New York, started his career with 16 first-round knockouts in his first 16 fights. Berlanga stepped up in class for his last four fights and scored decision wins in each.
Berlanga made his Top Rank debut in April 2019 on the undercard of Terence Crawford-Amir Khan. His last 11 fights came under the Top Rank banner.
His last two victories -- vs. Steve Rolls in March and Roamer Angulo in June -- headlined Top Rank Boxing on ESPN cards in New York. The Rolls fight sold out The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. The Angulo fight resulted in a six-month suspension for Berlanga after he bit his opponent.
"I'm officially a promotional free agent," Berlanga said in a statement to ESPN. "I want to thank Top Rank, Bob Arum and ESPN for the last few years. I'm excited for the future and will be waiting for my manager to tell me what the next move is. I've sold out the Theater at The Garden. I've set a goal for myself to sell out the big room at MSG and throw the biggest party at The Garden that Puerto Rican fans have ever seen. I can't wait for the future."
Berlanga's manager, Keith Connolly, advises fighters who are signed with PBC and Matchroom Boxing; both Al Haymon and Eddie Hearn are expected to show interest in Berlanga.
Berlanga isn't rated at 168 pounds by ESPN and has failed to provide the explosive power-punching display fans are accustomed to in his past three bouts, but he's a proven ticket seller in a sport short on them.
"We wish him the best of luck in the future," Top Rank spokesperson Evan Korn said.
Berlanga's suspension ended last month. He was eyeing a return in March with Top Rank, but now that he's a free agent, it's unclear when he'll be back in the ring.

On Top Rank parting ways with Edgar Berlanga
“We had a different philosophy, and we didn’t want to hold him back. He is bound and determined to proceed at a pace that we don’t think he’s ready for — he thinks differently, and I wish him all the luck in the world. He’s a nice young man, his father is a nice guy, but we just have a different philosophy of where he’s going.”

Re: Edgar Berlanga Splits with Top Rank
Edgar Berlanga: “I Already Know I’m A Star, I’m Ready For Big-Time Fights”
“We didn't have the same ideas. That's the reason we're here now. [Top Rank] did an amazing job building my career and getting me to where I am not now,” Berlanga told co-hosts Akin Reyes and Barak Bess on “The DAZN Boxing Show.”
“I already know I was a star, regardless of the critics. When you're winning in life, you're always going to have haters. That comes with the territory. I'm just happy to be in this position.
“I feel like I'm in a situation where I am ready for that step up to get into those big fights.”
When asked if the public had seen the best version, he said, “Naw, not yet. I just move at my pace, and I know when the time is right, I'm going to be ready for the big fights.”
“Whoever offers the best deal,” said Berlanga. “We're meeting with everybody. Numbers, matchmaking, and the way we want to get moved have to make sense. Everything has to make sense for my team and me. This is interesting. I'm just sitting back with my legs up, chilling, and waiting on these offers.”

I've been following Edgar's career since his debut, singing with Holyfield, the streak, Arum and now Matchroom. Mark my words, Edgar will refocus now his career has direction. Great singing for Eddie.
One of Edgar's training partners used to post on here, when I started the first thread about him years ago. Give him five fights, he'll be ready for Canelo.

Really? I know he’s had an injury but I struggle to see what the fuss is about him.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑14 Feb 2023, 13:24 I've been following Edgar's career since his debut, singing with Holyfield, the streak, Arum and now Matchroom. I listened to a couple of recent interviews with him and he came across as arrogant and deluded. I could be wrong but I think he loses the first time he steps up.
