Primo Carnera vs. Rocky Marciano - who wins?
I believe Rocky Marciano may perhaps just edge it...

Carnera KO 6 Marciano- marciano had 68" reach. carnera had 86". carnera would own marciano with his long arms. marciano threw slow looping telegprahed punches. he didnt have the blazing handspeed, or the short crisp punches max baer did needed to beat carnera. marciano was small, very slow, had a bantamweight reach, and had the skill level of a clubfighter. reallys thats all rocky is......an overated club fighter.
marciano threw telgraphed slow punches. max baer had much faster handspeed
carnera-marciano would be a lot like carnera-uzcuden but uzcuden was a lot bigger and stronger than rocky(229lb to 185lb) and rocky wasnt as skilled as uzcuden so primo puts rocky away.

reach
Evidently, Carnera's reach was only 80 1/4 inches.
BB your very transparent.......you keep repeating words that you argued with a few threads ago. You didn't buy it when it came from someone else and now you want us to believe that you've been converted to an Anti Marciano sentiment?
Let it go.....it's just an opinion. I don't rate the Rock at the top but he could take Carnera apart without a schematic.

Carnera is a huge man, but Marciano had faced opponents near Carnera's size before, and blew them away. Carnera, as I see it, would try to use his 270 pound bulk to lay down on Marciano and try to tire him out and once he did tire Marciano out he would use clubbing rights and lefts.
I don't think Carnera could have pulled it off, considering how well conditioned Rocky was, being able to go 15 rounds non-stop throwing punches in bunches, his crouching style would have made him a much harder target for Carnera to hit [Carnera 6'5" 270, Marciano 5'11" 187] than it would an Ezzard Charles or Joe Walcott.
Carnera was slow and ponderous and one-dimensional, he was like a giant sized John Ruiz. Marciano would have a time with Carnera for the first few rounds, but Marciano always did, and would eventually chop down the giant Italian with his body shots and then go to beating him arms, and then go into full blown assault hitting everywhere from the back to the shoulders to the neck and head.
Marciano would stop Carnera in around 8 rounds.

Btw.....Brockton, if ur going to constantly belittle Marciano and make these dumbass remarks, I suggest you get a different account, because you ain't doing Marciano any justice by having 'BrocktonBlockbuster' as your forums name.
Marciano threw a telegraphed punch in a film reel, big whoop. I can name several fighters who have thrown some of the most telegraphed punches in history. Remember Jack Johnson? Nat Fleischer ranked him as the #1 HW champion of all time, but if you watch Johnson-Ketchell, Johnson threw a punch that looked like a flying shoulder tackle from the other side of the ring to Ketchell's face.
Even the 'greatest' boxers have their off nights.

Brocky....you have lost all credibility with me. Max Baer greater than Marciano? Primo Carnera knock out Marciano? George Chuvalo not only beat Marciano but knock him out in a single round?
You are fornicating cracked...even Muhammad Ali himself said that Marciano could have beaten both Chuvalo and Patterson in the same night with relative ease [ABC WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS with Ali, Marciano, Patterson reviewing Floyd's fight with Chuvalo].
You've lost all credibility with me. You shouldn't show your face around here any more. The boozing was bad enough---but this? What happened to you, your old lady dumped ur ass or what?
You was someone I respected...now you're just a joke.

rocky marciano threw teleghraphed and slow punches. max baer had much faster handspeed. therefor max baer is much better than rocky marciano
marciano retired because he saw a young prime incredibly fast and skilled superstar on the horizon in patterson.....and rocky wanted to protect that 49-0. rocky ducked floyd. he knew floyd was too dangerous a fight. marciano faced only old black men.....he wanted no part of the young athletic black men. marciano knew because of his slow and telegraphed punches(max baer had much faster handspeed)....that he was better of tangling with old tired men than young fast prime ones.

are u saying beer is bad?
old lady??? are u calling my mom an old lady???
sure! if 62 year old blown up middleweight archie moore could floor and badly hurt marciano(and get robbed from the referee)......imagine wut a 26 year old 6'6 265lb primo carnera punch would do to marciano?Carnera knock out Marciano?

sighs....enough is enough
If 'Brocky' wants to be a boxer...I'll tell ya what, someone set it up, I'll face BrocktonBlockbuster in a boxing match. I been raised around the fight game my whole life, my grandfather was a Golden Gloves champion when he was in the Marines [having an exhibition with Billy Conn], my dad's friend Dan Long was a former TOUGHMAN champion.
I have studied fighters in and out, have put the gloves on quite a few times in 'under-ground' matches between so-called bad asses.
Set it up....tired of this smeg spouting his mouth off.

Maybe we can set up a full fight card. How about Monte Cox and Ted Spoon in a wheelchair / bra and panties match?IrishRufusMurphy wrote:sighs....enough is enough![]()

So why don't I take over from Brocky then. Marciano KO 1 Carnera. Marciano KO 0 Chuvalo (Chuvalo gets a heartattack before the start of the fight). Marciano KO1 Ali. Marciano KO 1 Louis. Marciano #1. He's so much better than any other heavyweight in history that it's even ridicolous to rank him together with anybody else. There should be Marciano, and then a list with all the other folks, order not so important.IrishRufusMurphy wrote:Brocky....you have lost all credibility with me. Max Baer greater than Marciano? Yes as has been stated before people should remember to use these, [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] it would save confusion like this.pundit wrote:Irony works with some people, and with others it doesn't.....IrishRufusMurphy wrote:Btw.....Brockton, if ur going to constantly belittle Marciano and make these dumbass remarks, I suggest you get a different account, because you ain't doing Marciano any justice by having 'BrocktonBlockbuster' as your forums name.

cred
In addition to credibility, I think Pundit has balls the size of church bells. Very few would relish the opportunity to cross swords with Brocky.pundit wrote:So why don't I take over from Brocky then. Marciano KO 1 Carnera. Pundit, your sarcasm is weak and predicable.
I rate Marciano higher than most, but do I rate him as #1? No. Do I think Marciano could have beaten the majority of past champions? Yes. But not all. So I don't hold Marciano up as 'the greatest'. His style was beatable, but nobody in his era could match his strength, endurance and aggressiveness, and very few could irregardless what era they were in.
I rate Marciano inside the top #10 of all time rather easily, and personally rank him inside the top 5. But I hold Joe Louis, Jack Johnson higher than him and Ali [in my opinion] I have tied with Marciano.
***********************************************************
As far as the comment of having Monte Cox and some other old bastard on an under-card if me and 'Brocoli' ever fought....don't make jokes. I would take on Brocoli in a boxing match, irregardless the rounds or rules, whether that be Marquis of Queensbury or London Prize. Hell Bobby Dobbs goes around these forums, he's a match-maker, why not?
