Like Marciano v Louis the Lewis v Tyson was a historical marker, two different eras
Re: Title Defenses: Quality on Average
I don't think it was a dive but Jersey Joe fucked up everything that came after it. As you say, Ali was clearly going to win but IMO Liston got up before the referee counted to 10 and a better or more experienced ref probably wouldn't have A. Lost control of Ali in the first place and B stopped the fight because Nat Fleicher (sp?) told him to.gilgamesh wrote: ↑10 Jan 2023, 12:19I know it was a dive.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑10 Jan 2023, 12:18 OK, if you think it was a dive, then people can't give it a low number and it figure it into the average. Makes no sense for Ali to be penalized.
Re: Title Defenses: Quality on Average
There must be a way of factoring in the amount of defences as well?

I've never had any doubt whatsoever it was a dive. Nobody on Earth could ever convince me otherwise. It's as obvious as the Sun in the Sky.p4p1 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2023, 20:09I don't think it was a dive but Jersey Joe fucked up everything that came after it.
