He managed to win some rounds.

But in a 12 round fight.. you gotta be in it the whole way.
ya, marcus browne won the first 3 on a pair of cards vs bert too. gvo was actually ahead at the stoppage too, though i felt bert was edging it

this was a good fight but tbh i didnt think it was particularly great like some are saying. game guy gives it a go, but broken down in 8 by sharper puncher.

If you turn your back and lean on the corner, you’re not defending yourself. End of the fight right there. Yarde boxed out his skin early on but got ground down. Great fight.

It was good in terms of toe to toe action. Both were throwing them.

But you absolutely have to be able to do 12 hard rounds to have a realistic chance, and Yarde falls some way short of that.
Bivol definitely beats Bert.
You would think so, but... Beter just seems to pull something out, you can never relax

I don’t think it’s a case of Beterbiev patiently biding his time. He was in a proper fight there.

I’ll root for Bert against Bivol, but I think he’s really up against it.

Great performance by both men. Bert was relieved to win that. He was clearly in trouble at times.

bivol might be too slick and mobile for bert, i think bert would struggle to impose himself enough. he does at least have a good jab though, and canelo's uppercut was his best shot vs bivol, and that's arguably bert's best shot

would lean bivol

Like Bud did to Shane ?
I agree, BUT Yarde was genuinely close to winning that fight at times.
disagree, he won some rounds but was getting broken for the most part. bert's jab was a great weapon and any time yarde landed a big shot bert would maul him more with several more in the corner. look at the 5th or 6th....yarde lands a big right that ppl say wins him the round, despite bert proceeding to shake him up with like 10 in the corner. yarde was getting more credit for his shots than bert was i felt

stats had bert landing more in all but one round.............that's what i saw too. that ending was inevitable for me
I don't even really disagree with you - Bert was breaking him down for sure, but the "inevitable victory" was almost derailed !
Bert's been down before, he's been close before (Gvodzyk) but he's never looked hurt and beaten up before. That fight took something out of Bert @ 38.
Bivol will be delighted with Yarde's effort.

what was the most trouble he was in? he took yarde's best right hand, shook his head, then mauled him in the corner to end the same round

i dont mean to sound overly negative, but i just watched a different fight than a lot of you  for me bert was in control for most of it, and though made to work hard was never really in much trouble,. yarde was getting more and more worn down and that ending could be seen clearly

I'd imagine it'll happen too. Those guys don't strike me as guys who'd be all Prima Donna about putting a fight together. If there starts to be a groundswell of demand for the bout, it'll probably happen.

he did it any time yarde landed a shot to get people excited, a guy who's in big trouble doesnt respond like that.

it was never derailed, he never went down or even had his legs go. any time yarde landed a good shot bert responded with more of his own. bert was said to be flagging here in a same round he teed off on yarde against the ropes for the last 30 seconds, then ktfo him the next round. how da f@ck that equates to flagging is beyond me

Hate to say it but they're not American so their unbeaten records are dispensable in a business sense.

In football terms, it was like spurs being 2 up against city the other week, you know city were always going to come back.
