It's all well and going saying what could he have done, but he could have at least had a swing when Inoue was offering his chin, or attempted to counter the single jabs. When Aren Dipean puts up a more valiant effort than a 2 time world champion, you really need to be fair and criticise.
If a guy comes over here and puts up no effort we don't go "Oh well, what could they have done", and that shouldn't change because its the Brit. We saw the same with Smith fought Canelo and was happy to just go on the defensive. Eurgh.
Well I thought Gallagher would have him implement his trademark give the first 6 rounds away strategy. Butler just looked like he wasn't trying to win. If he went for it we all know he would have probably been KO'd earlier. The lad seemed to have decided to pick up his purse and take a moral victory going the distance. Most boxers give it large pre fight. It's just part of the build up. He certainly didn't appear to be willing to take risks and go for it and seemed happy to take the loss. No doubt he could have thrown more and done more. If it looks like you're not trying to win the fight, it leaves a sour taste in the viewers mouth.
Agreed on Callum Smith vs Canelo. Tepid performance. Ryder got robbed for that? At least Ryder will have a go.

Rare in general for purses in Japan to be made public, not sure if Butler and his team have released them but major Japanese sites like Boxmob and Boxingnews.jp don't seem to have mentioned anything
They clearly are in a relative context - making explicit reference to lasting longer than everyone expected as if that constitute an achievement.
I was reading it more as “it was a bit disrespectful to write me off to get blasted out when I nearly went the distance”. So not a celebration, just a bit of a retort.
well, the smiling group photo and applause emoji and we proved them wrong stuff is a bit awkward for a fight where you lost every round by miles and got knocked out, no matter how long people thought it would last
