Favorite one-sided bouts
Re: Favorite one-sided bouts
One judge actually gave Hearns the first two rounds if I remember correctly. Just crazy.

You don't know what you're talking about. You only saw the 7th and 8th rounds not the entire fight. You only probably saw the highlights.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑14 Jan 2023, 15:34It was. Leonard was dominating and humiliating Duran. Then Roberto quit like a petulant child. It doesn't get more one sided than a man quitting a fight for no reason and robbing the fans who had paid their hard earned money.elmersalsa wrote: ↑14 Jan 2023, 14:07Leonard-Duran II wasn't one sided. Don't start something here.

The Hitman fought gallantly and valiantly for 2 and a half rounds of action. It was action-packed and let's leave that classic fight as it is. It was one of the greatest fights that I have ever seen. Non-stop action. It ended early, but it was a beauty. Add no more.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Jan 2023, 16:49hearns was in it for about a minute, then got his spaghetti legged arse kickedelmersalsa wrote: ↑14 Jan 2023, 15:08 Hagler vs Hearns wasn't a one-sided beatdown. It was an all-time great fight and leave it as is.

Pacquiao vs De La Hoya was an iconic 1 sided fight. That one along with the Barrera drubbing are a big part of what made Pac a Legend in his own time.

To think that fight basically happened because Larry Merchant brought it up in passing a few years before. But make no mistake Oscar De La Hoya was shot when that fight happened. It can't be denied though that it did make Manny Pacquiao arguably the biggest star in boxing after he won that.
Re: Favorite one-sided bouts
Yeah De La Hoya was pretty much toast, and whatever he had left was drained away by going down to 147, but he has nobody but himself to blame for that. As I recall it was HIS idea to go down to Welterweight, not Pac's idea to drain him down. De La Hoya was the guy with all the name value and the clout. Pacquiao just lucked into the opportunity of a lifetime, and owned the f*cked out of it.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑15 Jan 2023, 02:49To think that fight basically happened because Larry Merchant brought it up in passing a few years before. Not that he hadn't earned a big fight mind you. I'm not trying to make it sound like that. By this time he was already like a 5 weight class Champion, and a highly rated P4P Superstar. The DLH win just shot him into the stratosphere.

I really like watching Hopkins Vs. Pavlik and Hopkins Vs. Beibut Shumenov every 6 months or so. Just something beautiful about the old master taking the young guns to school. Shumenov isn’t well remembered nowadays but he was a solid fighter in his day, and Hopkins absolutely tears him to shreds. I thought he took the first two rounds off and won everything after that, somehow it was a split decision though(my personal favorite example of random corruption that didn’t even matter lol)

shumenov also got a gift in the campillo rematch, judges and the wba loved him, he won the first 2 rounds vs hop and that was it, he won maybe 4 rounds in the campillo rematch. somehow he ended up with a win and a split loss lol
