Eubank was a 100% focused on his fight with smith, he’s no mug and knew he was in for a tough fight no matter what he said beforehand.

Weight was an issue, Eubank has been down around that weight and even lower since the Benn fight. No one in their right mind can honestly think maintaining a fighting weight for a number of months doesn't have a negative effect. Which is effectivley what Jr has done.

I think he might be done tbh, he hasn't looked good since going back to middle. The Morrison fight was a poor dispaly, never did quite figure that one out. but it makes more sense now. Williams was all over the shop in their fight and somehow made the later rounds compettiive.

Out of training I think he's around 170lb so I doubt he's been under 160 for almost 4 months, he got down for the Benn fight and would've put weight on when it fell through, he doesn't balloon up in weight like some and keeps in shape so dropping 10lbs isn't out the ordinary. When you think Hatton was putting on several stone between fights, drinking and living a party lifestyle and it took years for it to take its toll on him.
Losing stones is easy when it’s all crap. Chris will be very lean at 170.

It's just my opinion (and the opinion of others), but he didn't look right coming to the ring.

Yeah of course but most fighters struggle to make weight, you hear some of the horror stories of not eating for a week, sitting in saunas on weigh in day etc but Eubank was showing himself out eating in restaurants.

Chris is getting preferential treatment. Such is contemporary sport.

Best thing for both men is Chris wins a disputed decision in the rematch and we get a 3rd fight.

Even so, back to the point I made, how can they sell this as PPV with a straight face?

Personally, I think it will do more buys than the first fight. Just my opinion of course. If the favourite loses, it's not that unheard of for there to be a rematch.

bcos the 1st fight couldnt be made if not ppv due to fighters purse demands which is madness really given the level they are at !
Smith ex world champ but still outside the elite level if you think objectively .
Eubank again not elite or frankly anywhere near and came up short vs Groves and BJs .

Compare this to Beterbiev v Yarde where an elite holder of belts is facing a legit challenger yet not PPV !!!

Great rematch, unlike some of the pointless ones we’ve seen lately at hw. I wasn’t expecting it, but it was a sensational fight, Chris looked in the ascendance, the round before Smith flattened him. Eubank was obviously overconfident, thinking he had that impregnable chin, and he had the lights turned out by a series of perfectly landed punches: should’ve gone down but that great chin held him up for the finisher.
He’ll be desperate for revenge and I fancy him to turn the tables on Smith. It’ll be a great fight, they’re both vulnerable now; he steadied Smith in the 3rd, and Smith has looked a bit more vulnerable lately…
Chris should watch Graziano Zale II to see how to go about turning the tables :D

Although I’d add this is just a great fight night type fight, not PPV quality, I wouldn’t watch it via box office.

A couple of the podcasts in the build up said that there were half a dozen out ones that were equally plausible but once the final bell rang it would have people feeling silly for not predicting that all along.
The rematch would be exactly the same and for me at this point it is still the 50/50 contest that the first one was.
A round that could have gone either way, one for Smith, one for CEJ and then he was caught and quickly stopped. That’s not like a 12 round beating and without knowing a load of information that we never will, it’s difficult to see how it’s any easier to predict than it was the first time around.

And that is why it's PPV. A non-title fight with no background but based around CEJ and it being a true 50/50 fight can sell out 17,000+ tickets and gross £5 million + on PPV. Wow.
