Just thought I’d post quick highlights

Navarrete looks so beatable with his wild swings, but he keeps winning.
Judging by his excess weight he is going to struggle with big super feathers

There was definitely something dodgy going on at the weigh in, some fella tampered with the scales 3 times in between the Barboza/Pedraza and Navarrete/Wilson weigh ins and he looked shifty as anything afterward, nervous as hell

ya the weight stuff is shady as hell, i have a hard time believing that wilson was actually 126 when he'd never been lower than 129.25 previously. no one weighs in that low for a title fight at 130

Navarrete had no muscle definition and looked overweight at the weigh in.

Game as a badger was Wilson and came out taking the fight by the scruff of the neck on the front foot. Navarette is happy to do very little early but I liked Wilsons poise and composure. The first big moments was the counter hook which is a marvelous punch from Wilson and Navarette was like a Saturday night drunk in there. The referee was showing how corrupt boxing is with some very shameful officiating and Navarette can count himself lucky that Wilson also showed some inexperience following up but that referee was scandalous, not to mention what I thought was an early ring of the bell. Wilson shook him to his boots again in another round but Navarette was always going to up his pace the longer the fight went and Wilson was running out of gas. Some superb body shots in there from Navarette got visible reactions and Wilson was showing a poker face in full retreat several times. The end came predictably but Navarette had been a fairly big underdog during that fight with the bookies. Wilson has a right to complain about the tosspot of a referee, who knew exactly which way his bread was buttered, make no mistake about that. The whole debacle was a stain on boxing. Especially when you couple it with the weigh in shenanigans. No way I would pick Wilson to win a rematch or anything but there are very fine margins at the highest level of the sport and Wilson may have just had his biggest ever moment ripped away forever by the corruption of the sport that he has sacrificed much of his life to.

Any more news on the scales issue? Sounds like a more involved attempt to make the weight than some of the old scales tricks (team member's foot under the scales, team member lifting the fighter slightly from behind, and so on).

On a related note, here's a old fight where I simply find McGowan's weight very hard to believe - https://boxrec.com/en/event/69906. Nearly three pounds under flyweight, against an Italian champion with notorious weight struggles. In Italy. But no mention of any skullduggery in the reports, so maybe it's just me.

Just had chance to watch this and didn't know the result, good fight and with a little more finishing instinct/experience Wilson would have been champion - loved that left hook in the 4th, peach of a shot. Honking refereeing mind, let Navarrete away with murder fcuking about with the mouthpiece etc but he got away with it. Nav tends to be in entertaining fights but you do wonder how long he can get away with his wild style vs the top fighters in this weight class.

Navarrete is a ‘weight bully’

I think Valdez will beat him when they fight. Wilson gave it a good go. But the scales issue alone means he deserves a rematch which he won't get.
