Emanuel Navarrete vs. Liam Wilson | ESPN - February 3, 2023
Re: Emanuel Navarrete vs. Liam Wilson | ESPN - February 3, 2023
Grant - Im sooking. Im really surprised at the lack of attention or comment the knockdown and the looooong count has received. I understand Liam's team is none too happy and after their concerns over the scales (and Nava looked soft) I can understand why.
Credit to Nava though, responded well after being hurt several times. Well done Liam, showed you belong on this stage after 13 fights.
It is reported No Limits have launched an official protest.

nava undoubtedly got extra time to recover, he was crafty pulling the mouth guard act and ref shoulda acted quicker
protest i doubt goes anywhere. nava-valdez should happen next and im sure wilson will get some opportunities off the back of this

Wilson not happy with the count.
He also reckons Nava came in overweight but they doctored the scales.

Unless Valdez was wrecked by the Stevenson beat down he ought to whip Navarrete pretty handily. Nava is a slow tank and Valdez should be able to smack him around. Nava reminds me a little of Jose Luis Ramirez from the 1970s-1980s,

I hate long counts and spitting mouthgauards and all that, but nava got hit when he was down, so I’m all for a little extra recovery time when that happens.

The knockdown drama was bullsh1t but the real issue here was the tampering with the scales, if anyone can post the tweet @rangerrollins tweeted, there's something fishy going on

Defo something up..
Always fishy when ‘someone’ is involved with the scales or the judges at ringside etc..
Nothing should be touched.

Nice fight. Wilson is very limited, but he came there to fight. Navarrete definitely underestimated the opponent and tried to KO him as soon as possible, thus he left an opening for Wilson in the 4th, got caught pretty badly and suffered a hard KD. Wilson even had success apart from that, in the 6th, but Navarrete was able to be back in the fight and finish strong.
A bit of an embarrassment to struggle with the substitute this way, but that happens, when you allow yourself to go out of focus.

Great fight. Feel like it should be switched to a NC. 27 secs to recover then bell rings making it a minute and half. Yes he was hit when he was down but ref didnt call it. Ref was very for Naverrete entire fight. Love how he came back but not fair. Do it again. Weigh in controversy makes it an easy decision as well. I am sure Top Rank will keep their cash cow moving forward and get him to Valdez fight where he will lose.

People sometimes use the ref count as excuse.
The ref count is basically how the ref counts it. Not a clock timer.
The refs count, the pace was ok. It was the mouth guard that got me.
Should have docked him some.

make valdez-nava and give wilson a fight to become mandatory challenger or something like that
