Martin Bakole signs with Boxxer

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

This might help secure more fights and hopefully get him closer to world titles.

Maybe a fight with Parker later this year?

Bakole Vs Parker would be excellent!

They also have Frazer Clarke and Hughie. Hughie Vs Clarke or Bakole wouldn't be too bad at some point (for competition, not to watch  ) Okolie Vs Bakole aswell?

The Next King of Scotland is a great nickname for him, if only he was Ugandan

I do. Regardless of the criticism he got, he had an energy for the sport and I never particularly found him offensive nor annoying.

He was a civil enough character and I hope he comes back to Sky boxing.

Yes, totally valid. That’s your opinion and it’s an opinion shared by others, who have previously commented the same.

Personally, I just never take too much notice of the commentary. But Smith’s commentary doesn’t really have any impact on me. I have no real issue with it. But certainly each to their own.

I’m 95% out of the door with boxing but if Smith comes backs that’s 99% with the remaining 1% percent being taken away it Benn fight Pacquaio.

Ditto. As much as I respect (ho!) Smith's enthusiasm and loyalty to and support for the sport, he really did absolutely ruin listening to boxing matches on a routine basis. There used to be so many posts about the joy of muting Sky or watching a foreign stream

Although I will continue to post on here as I’ve recently moved from “cruiserweight” to “heavyweight” on the rankings so I’m feeling pretty aloof about that.

Yep, he would just shout about how good the home fighter is and act like any upset is beyond comprehension but it's still a good fight that everyone should be happy to see. He then didn't remain quiet for very long before shouting again. Have nothing against him personally, just isn't my type of commentary. I think BT commentary can be quite annoying aswell tbh. I have noticed that I much prefer the US commentators on UK fights because they don't really have a home fighter and they talk rather than shout so it compliments the fight rather than gets in the way.

I did wonder why this topic has seemingly quite a few replies, but it's mostly about Adam Smith's commentary

Another good signing for sky, but they have to get him fighting and watched…

Bakolie, hughie, Parker, hunter. They are all good heavy’s and good fights to be made between them, but there’s not much momentum there between em…

Martin Bakole Aims To Get Mandatory Crack at Daniel Dubois, Says Shalom

Heavyweight contender Martin Bakole is planning to force a crack at WBA "regular" champion Daniel Dubois.

Bakole has been out of the ring since May of 2022, when he picked up a stunning decision win over Olympic gold medal winner Tony Yoka.

He is expected to become a lot busier in 2023 - after signing a promotional agreement with Ben Shalom's Boxxer.

Ranked at number two under the WBA, and nobody currently ranked at number one, may lead to a Dubois vs. Bakole showdown.

Oleksandr Usyk holds the WBA's "super" title at heavyweight. He is currently engaged in serious negotiations for a unification showdown with Tyson Fury.

Shalom believes the WBA is close to ordering a Dubois vs. Bakole mandatory fight.

"I think they're about to order a mandatory for Daniel, Martin wants that title. Martin is top of the tree in the WBA now," Shalom said to Sky Sports.

"With his win against Tony Yoka, he was so impressive to go out and do that in Paris against a former Olympic champion. On the circuit he's possibly the most avoided heavyweight out there. Delighted to have him. I think he could challenge for world titles very soon.

"Martin backs himself in any fight in the heavyweight division. Daniel Dubois is on his list and Billy Nelson [Bakole's trainer] has been talking about him for a long time and they're ready to go. It's definitely that title that we have our eyes on. Obviously Daniel's injured at the moment. But luckily with Martin he will fight anyone. They could pick any name for him to fight for that title and he would take it. So we've got a very, very good heavyweight that's willing to fight anyone. That's a perfect mix."

Great fight if it gets called by the WBA. If Shalom can get the funds to outbid Frank then that would be a statement.

Yeh, he already let BT have the Joyce-Parker fight.
