Have to retire?
After less than five losses?
That statement is 80% of what is wrong with boxing right now.
Yeah he's gotta retire if he loses this. Not because he still couldn't beat a lot of people @ SMW, but because he's never gonna get the big fights and big money again.
Nah, he comes back after another loss to Smith, wins three or four fights at SMW including a brutal KO in a crossroads fight and he's right back up there.

Thing is...,

CEJ was weakened by weight-making.
We've seen it before haven't we ? Famously RJJ and some others.
Jnr was well known for having almost as good a chin as Snr !
He was hit hard and flush by Spike O'Sullivan and notable big SMW puncher George Groves and we'd all say "chin" was one of CEJ's attributes going in to the fight. And Beefy is a really good fighter, but nobody would call him an explosive banger even @ SWW. An early Smith stoppage was just about the only thing that was a really big price in the pre-fight betting - it didn't make a lot of sense.
So, to crumble like that - and offa not that much - we can say almost certainly that CEJ WAS weakened by the weight-making.
He could easily have a rest, rehydrate and do the weight properly and be his old self...
Personally, I very much doubt it.

Chins cracked and that's why he should retire.

Punch resistance can have a lot to do with preparation and mentality on the night. It can also come back when those two factors improve.

Wonder how Liam feels about this. He must’ve thought he was due a night in Anfield or at least a big Echo show, he’ll get plenty of money for this rematch but it might knock other, bigger fights further down the road.

Maybe, but since George Groves, he has been carefully selecting guys he can beat, and making a very decent living. No "0" to protect either, two losses don't seem to have affected his earning potential at all, 4 probably won't change that.
Like it or not, he is a name that puts bums on seats, and he always seems to put on a show, win or lose.
The GGG fight has probably sailed now, but there are other guys who might want his name on their resume, Mung might want a go. Boxrec still rank him top #5.

He's going to take a massive hit to his brand if he loses to Smith again. I think he will probably get KO'd the exact same way too. In my view he has to take it to Liam this time. We know Liam can be hurt and Eubank is the bigger guy. Go right at Smith and have a tear up and there is a good chance he could come out on top but if he is going to be prancing around the ring and using his head movement and reflexes for defence and putting himself in bad spots then he is going to get KO'd again and he is going to do that again in my view.

If Korobov was carefully selected, it was a big mistake. Eubank was being boxed up in the first round and I suspect Korobov would've done what Smith done, had he not sustained a fight-ending injury.

Never was sold on Korobov. The first time I saw him was when Andy Lee finished it at the halfway mark, then again losing to Charlo. So maybe I underestimated Korobov only seeing him fight twice and both were losses.
So despite a shaky start, I still expected Eubank to win that fight.

There's no reason to believe Eubank would've won as he is significantly less talented than Lee and Charlo. He was beating Lee until Lee landed his trademark right hook and he arguably beat Charlo. And by your own admission you barely saw Korobov fight.

“While we expect a closely contested bout, Eubank Jr’s powerful striking separates him from Smith (EVS). We see him getting the better of his rival in a potential rematch.”

Chris Eubank Jr 4/5
Liam Smith EVS
Draw 12/1
Bookies can be so stupid when it comes to boxing.

‘Eubank Jr’s powerful striking separates him from Smith’

12s for a draw is about as low as I’ve ever seen. In fact all 3 odds there are terrible

Smith at Evens is the only sensible bet there.

Smith by KO will be a bigger price and is most likely outcome.

Korobov had so much potential but really under achieved. One of the most talented fighters to never become world champ.

When you manage to land punches like that in the first round, it likely won't end up well for your opponent.

Shalom says rematch will be May or June

"I received an email directly from Wasserman [Eubank's promoter] to officially trigger the rematch," Shalom told Sky Sports.

"We'll try and get a date that's suitable for all parties but it looks like the Eubanks and Wasserman and everyone really want the rematch and that's we'll get. I think it's a huge fight. The first time I think a lot of the casual fans didn't really believe Liam Smith could do it, despite everyone saying that he could. I don't think there was that belief.

"Liam Smith hadn't been in a pay-per-view fight before in the UK. He was new to that. He was a new name in a Box Office fight. But since that knockout he's now catapulted in profile. The bookies, from what I've seen, still have Eubank as the favorite, which is crazy to me. But it shows how much interest there is and how big this fight will be. Now Liam Smith is firmly on everyone's radar. May/June I expect it to happen. No injuries on either side and I think they both want to get on with it."

I feel that Beefy has the mental edge and physical edge (Eubank can't make 160 lbs with comfort).

However, Euebank will force this rematch to go the distance, I'm expecting something like 116-112.

It will be interesting to see how this has affected him.

A low confidence, gun shy Eubank is a recipe for disaster.
