Joseph Parker Vs Michael Hunter

Post by joshj909 »

Hunter has said that this fight is in discussions and that he expects it to be made as it is close. Fight will happen in the UK. Decent enough fight. Both seem to fight to the level of their opposition, Hunter has been underwhelming since his win over Bakole and draw with Povetkin. Think Parker just takes it but it should be competitive.

My theory of Bakole Vs Hunter 2 being up next goes out the window.

Hunter was poor last time out too. Very lucky to get a draw against Jerry Forrest.

I guess, Hunter just had a bad night vs Forrest, while Parker is an overachieved contender, who is past prime probably. If Hunter is ready and fit, I'd pick him. The guy is more fluid and willing to work.

Parker and Hunter would normally be pretty closely matched, but neither one is 100% right now. Parker coming off a bad beating and Hunter has been inactive and struggling against inferior opponents for a few years. Under those circumstances, hard to pick the winner. But anyways, good match-up. Wish it came off in like 2020 or 2021.

So, you consider the mighty Jerry Forrest, who whooped the great Jermain Franklin himself, an inferior opponent, huh?

It's hard for me to know who to pick when Parker is fighting these days.

He looks to be declining and seems to struggle when you expect him to show his class.

True, but the same could be said about Michael Hunter of late. Hunter I had as a top prospect about 3 years ago, not now. Shame really, I find him a pretty likeable guy.

I actually like this fight and think that the winner should be able to fight for an interim championship or should get a shot at one of the alphabet belts. I wouldn't mind seeing Tyson Fury against Michael Hunter to be honest with you since it would be a revenge from the amateurs type contest.

You kidding? There're Fury and Usyk with the unifying opportunity. There're Joyce and Joshua (for a case of Fury), and you want Parker, who was crushed by Joyce, and Hunter, who's inactive after a whooping received from Forrest, to be given a shot after their nothing-to-lose affair? Even the fat Andy deserves it more, if he keeps the legit winning streak.

Well if (Jesus willing it does) we're not going to get Usyk.... and Joe Joyce is already tied up in a fight.... and Ruiz is tied up in negotiations with Wilder and that other man whose name I can't even pronounce... I figure Michael Hunter is a good substitute considering he is basically the same size as Usyk, has a history with Usyk, and has had his own success against large heavyweights.

You're actually spot on to be fair.

Parker and Hunter are pretty similar in some ways.
