Billy ‘the Kid’ Pickles….. is the nickname deliberately ironic? Billy looks about 55….

Why does anyone named Billy always use ‘the kid’?

It is a bit clichéd, based on the thread perhaps he should be 'Beano' Billy Pickles in the future?

Is anyone going to this show?
I’m really curious about what happens when the contest is over and the belt is presented as it’s a BBBoC show and they don’t allow WBF titles.

Dave Allen now off the bill after the Italian board of control rejected an Italian opponent who the BBBoC had approved.

Allen has admitted in a YouTube interview that the BBBofC had previously knocked back other European opponents put forward before they eventually approved the Italian. It does suggest the level they were looking to put Allen in with was atrocious.

The Fight Zone project was supposed to herald a new dawn in small hall boxing. In reality it’s been absolutely farcical and Fight Academy couldn’t run a bath.

Then why doesn't he box someone who is in half decent shape?

Probably no money for a decent opponent. We all know Dave will fight anyone. A few wins and Wardley seems the plan.

I remember this issue from when the Board wasn't recognising the Masters titles. Answer is (or at least then was) that the fighters can fight for them, but the Board officials won't present them, so they'll likely haul a sponsor from a nearby table to do the honours.

Dave himself is saying he’s getting, or at least was getting, very little for the fight.

All a bit pointless.

Without wishing to appear cynical I don't think we're getting the full story about the cancellation of Allen's fight.

In an interview on YouTube yesterday he claimed that numerous opponents had been rejected by the board, two of those being Pavel Sour and Dominic Breazeale.

But this was the opponent he was (very briefly) listed to meet:

https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/546988

Why would the Board deem this bloke acceptable but reject Sour who's taken two unbeaten prospects the distance this year and Breazeale a two time would title challenger with only three defeats on his record?

It will almost certainly be cash. Hobson likes the boxer to cover the opponents purse and throw something in the pot before you get anything. If not, you wont be boxing.

Last year Dennis brought this lad over to contest the WBF International 'title' against Perry Howe, two fights (and two defeats later) he's brought back to fight a debutant
