Remember Kid Galahad against Kiko?
KD heavy before the bell..
next round started and another shot finished it.
Wood is a lethal (no pun intended) puncher.
He would have finished it.

I meant that it doesn't matter, because we both agree. Some come back, some don't.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑18 Feb 2023, 19:57exactly, so if my point doesn't matter, as you say, than neither does yourskeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑18 Feb 2023, 19:56My point is that some people come back from that. You're saying some people don't. Same thing. Some do, some don't.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑18 Feb 2023, 19:54
if it doesnt matter then neither does the fact that some guys have come back from worse![]()

there was still time in the round..........that's why it's a tough one. some people are acting like the bell had rang, but it hadn't , so the risk is that lara flatlines a badly hurt wood with another shot or two. if it was guaranteed that no more punches could be thrown, clearly look over lee in the corner first after some recovery timeRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Feb 2023, 19:57 I mean maybe.. see how he is in the corner in a few seconds. Maybe then retire him in the corner.

bad left hook had it for wood too, the nearly 20 fan score cards on boxrec have a 5-1 average for wood as well. maybe you needed to watch more closely, he was obviously winning the fight

No, just the usual Boxing Scene site.
Re: Round-by-Round: Leigh Wood vs. Mauricio Lara | DAZN - 18 February 2023
I just watched it again...
Still surprised Ben D did it - most wouldn't have.
But fair play - better too early than too late and all that. It's the fighter's job to be brave and the trainer's job to protect him.
Wood can go home to his family and fight another day and there had to be a chance that wouldn't be the case if Lara went for him.

Ben probably saw all the praise Tunde got and thought that opened the door to do what he did.
Problem is, Wood was still in the fight and should have continued. He was robbed of that chance by a poor call by Davison unfortunately

Maybe. Maybe I'll watch it again tomorrow after finally rewatching Canelo-Bivol... I'm just saying, the die hard fanbase can be endearingly biased, especially when it come to british viewers.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑18 Feb 2023, 20:01bad left hook had it for wood too, the nearly 20 fan score cards on boxrec have a 5-1 average for wood as well. maybe you needed to watch more closely, he was obviously winning the fight

Ben would have needed to give Leigh a minute whilst assessing whether he could survive the next round when he may have been already concussed. All in time quick marginal choices. Could have sent Leigh out the next round in the hope he put on a masterclass against a one punch concussive puncher or protect his man.
Leigh did great.....Lara is a beast.

Have any of you reprobates ever considered that being a great trainer doesn't necessarily mean you're a great cornermen or a great judgement of when to throw towels s????
Coz I'll be honest I haven't

it's a tough spot tbh. leigh was badly hurt and facing a big hitter, who could seriously damage him with a couple more shots. but there were only about 10 seconds left and he'd come back from a similar spot vs conlan.
just look at the responses, lots of ppl saying ben f@cked it, lots praising him

Jamie Moore was also hovering tonight. Jumpy cornermen is actually becoming a problem
