Head bounced off the floor.
Can see Davison having a good look before the ref said carry on.
Saw on twitter there is a rematch clause.
Real good stoppage imo. Live to fight another day and all that.

Yes definitely a good stoppage. Plus if it had been the other way around and it was Lara on the floor, ref would’ve waved it off immediately as soon as he got up.

Re: was it a good stoppage?
Lara was right behind Wood and Ben would have seen the bloodlust in his eyes and thought fcuk that. Wood would have gotten absolutely pancaked
Re: was it a good stoppage?
It’s hard to say. We don’t know what would have happened. It seemed fair enough though. You couldn’t say it was too early, like it sometimes is.
I always think of Thompson vs Nelson with premature stoppages. Thompson’s reaction said it all.

I thought that. UK Refs do not ask the away fighter to raise their hands, then when they immediately drop, give them another chance. Lara would gave been stopped no doubt about it

Re: was it a good stoppage?
He was sitting duck for a devastating left hook if they let that go, 10 seconds or not.
the shocking part is that the ref let it to go on. They`ll get a home fighter killed one of these days

Boxercise Ben made the right call
Wood is a proud man with a lot of bottle. His type need protecting from themselves and that's exactly what Davison did
We can be thankful that we didn't see Wood suffer a sickening knock out

Good stoppage, he was in bad shape, he has the rematch clause, regroup and come again.

Re: was it a good stoppage?
Overall, I’d say it was a good stoppage.
After he threw the towel at the ref.
You could see Wood in the corner.
He didn’t know where he was.
He wasn’t continuing to plead.

Wood needs to move up and challenge Billy Pickle for the Wbf strap in my eyes

Re: was it a good stoppage?
Agreed. Its the trainers job to protect his fighter esp if the refs are not going to do it, which seems to be the case with a lot of home fighters.
Re: was it a good stoppage?
Good one. He was wobbling around long after it.
Re: was it a good stoppage?
Great stoppage. Lara a huge puncher
Re: was it a good stoppage?
BD made the right call .
However if it was the other way around and Lara was badly hurt wud we have wanted it stopped or keen to say him get walloped !

Re: was it a good stoppage?
I’d have to see it all again, but I had a feeling that by the time the ref finished checking wood, and got Lara to a corner then the round would be over and a proper assessment could be done.
I’d like to of seen it let go I think wood being up so many rounds.
The knockdown really reminded me of round 1 vs conlan, I’m glad they kept that going and I kinda wish they kept this going.

Re: was it a good stoppage?
it wouldve been even on the cards entering the 8th if wood made it out without going down again........he did win after conlan dropped him good, but it also took him many rounds to get into it. he couldn't afford such a long recovery period vs lara with only 5 rounds left

Re: was it a good stoppage?
By the time the ref had sent Lara back to a neutral corner and said box, the round would have been over.
Re: was it a good stoppage?
Totally agree. Maybe Davison would have been right to call it off during the interval. That's when the decision should have been made.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑19 Feb 2023, 17:13 By the time the ref had sent Lara back to a neutral corner and said box, the round would have been over.

Re: was it a good stoppage?
ref was about to let them box on with 10 seconds left, round wasnt over yet
Re: was it a good stoppage?
Ref should really have sent Lara back to a neutral corner and then spent maybe 10-20 seconds or more making sure Wood's gloves were right. Navarette style.
