Cheavon Clarke ... Power and chin in check ?

Post by Evander »

Did you watch the Cheavon Clarke v Israel Duffus fight ?
What do you think of Clarke ?
32 year old 5-0[4 K0] Cruiserweight.
Had the power to deck Duffus multiple times and endure 10 rounds of medium to low level power.

It was a good test for him.
He learned more in that fight than he would have fighting ten tomato cans.
If Duffus had a full camp, he may have made things a lot harder because it was only when he ran out of puff after the first few rounds that Clarke started having real success.
Clarke's age is my biggest concern, he probably has to step up quickly and tonight proved he can.

I don't think he has much of a future-lousy defense. I expect to see him knocked out before too long.

What was the problem with his defence ?
Took some pity pat short jabs and the odd decent hook early in the fight, took them well I thought.
Chin was solid throughout.

looked strong and steady (albeit duffus is more of a light heavy), but unimaginative. needs to set up his work a bit more
