Re: Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury | BT PPV - 26 February 2023
It's a good fight and one that makes sense all round, both novices with hype albeit undeserving, Fury's very ordinary but has scored a couple of highlight reel KOs, haven't seen much of Paul, no interest in the YouTube/MMA fights but this fight has got me pretty hyped tbh, of course it's very low level and means nothing to the boxing landscape, it's a 50/50 fight I'm edging towards Paul, he has a dig and extreme confidence, Fury could get caught in the headlights, he has a lot to lose
It's a win/win for me, Paul wins he humiliates Big John and if Fury wins he puts a stop to the best YouTube fighter out there and banishes talk of Canelo and WBC ranking etc

I'm surprised it got made again but surely they'll be murder if Fury pulls out a third time, the Arabs will keep them hostage until they fight, like Zaire did to Foreman when the Ali fight got postponed, I'd like to see that actually

Didn’t they do that with the WWE? Was rumoured.handsofstone wrote: ↑20 Feb 2023, 16:19I'm surprised it got made again but surely they'll be murder if Fury pulls out a third time, the Arabs will keep them hostage until they fight, like Zaire did to Foreman when the Ali fight got postponed, I'd like to see that actually
All the bigger stars had private gets, but the rest of the roster was stuck for a few hours or so.
It was after the event though.

ah yes, more talk about the great power of tommy fury, this generations shavers. i wonder who will be the next to laud his punishing power. of course his curse is that he only has that power in the gym and can never show it when he fights, even against utterly mediocre opposition
maybe getting ko'd by tommy fury in sparring will become the new ko'd aj in sparring

lol, say what my man? i'm sure tommy is the wilder of the gyms, as these repeated claims of his massive sparring power and heavyweight knockouts suggest. it's just a shame he doesn't take it to the ring with him in actual fights, as we can all see ourselves.

Re: Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury | BT PPV - 26 February 2023
I can believe there is an element of truth to the claim that Tommy Fury is some sort of beast in the gym only because there is a phenomenon in combat sports where guys simply are really good in the gyms but for whatever reason under the bright lights of the arena they're not as good.
I'm reminded of an old friend of mine by the name of Brian Paul and a couple of fighters that he managed like Dean Nichols. When you look at their records they are pretty pitiful but in the gym they looked incredible. But for some reason in actual contests that confidence or those capabilities just wasn't there when it was for real.
From what little bit I've seen of Tommy Fury fight I haven't been impressed but I can believe that a guy in his own home gym would feel a lot more confident and relaxed and would perform better than he would in some auditorium or arena.

He doesn’t have his own home gym. Most of his work is done at Alex Matvienko’s.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 02:59 I can believe there is an element of truth to the claim that Tommy Fury is some sort of beast in the gym only because there is a phenomenon in combat sports where guys simply are really good in the gyms but for whatever reason under the bright lights of the arena they're not as good.

What I mean with the term home gym is where they do the bulk of their training at. Wherever you feel the most comfortable at you are going to perform at your best. There's been many threads over the years on this website talking about how some guys are strictly gym fighters and not really able to make that proper conversion into the pro ring.mickey1975 wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 03:53He doesn’t have his own home gym. I think that's where the element of truth comes in because what we see with Tommy Fury as a professional versus what we are hearing about what he's doing in the gym is kind of two different things. I think unlike Hughie Fury and Tyson Fury that Tommy Fury simply never had enough amateur experience to really get used to being in front of a crowd all that much.

This proper attracts the casuals.
I got a guy a work who only follows the famous boxers.. but he watches all the influencer/YT cards. He watched the weigh ins, pressers, the lot.
Much difference audience.

I wouldn't dream of paying for it myself but I honestly think the figures could be up their with AJ Klit, Hatton/Connor vs Mayweather etc. In the last week or so I've had woman and family members who have zero interest in boxing talking about it to me, I've not had that since Connor Mayweather which did insane numbers Hard for die hard purists to understand but I think joe public will lap it up.skanksta wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 08:41Some events you just have to witness live...stevec@france wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 07:03why bother paying 20 quid when it will be all over YT etc within minutes of the bell .Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑17 Feb 2023, 04:46
