Boxxer announced a co-promotion with French promotion All Star Promotions in Paris next month.

‘Super’ Dan Azeez will take part in the event at the Zenith Paris - La Villette on Saturday, March 11, with the event being broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK and Republic of Ireland and on Canal+ in France – with a third, bonus BOXXER bout to be announced later this week.

Azeez (18-0, 12 KO’s), the only light heavyweight fighter in history to win the English, British and Commonwealth titles, takes the next step on his own mission to become a world title contender as he challenges for the vacant EBU European light heavyweight championship.

Standing opposite him in the 12-round contest will be former European light heavyweight champion and former French national champion Thomas Faure (21-4-1, 2 KO’s), who rides an eight-fight undefeated streak heading into the bout.

Last December, Azeez defeated Rocky Fielding in Bournemouth – making for four stoppage wins in his last five outings – to complete his ascent from English to British and Commonwealth champion. Azeez sees the European title as the next crucial stepping stone.

Dan Azeez said: “My goal has always been to become a world champion and I believe that the European title is the perfect stepping stone for me in this mission. I’m training hard and I’m excited for the fight.”

The event is headlined by two Olympians as reigning European heavyweight champion Tony Yoka (11-1, 9 KO’s) faces the heavy-handed Cameroonian Carlos Takam (39-7-1, 28 KO’s).

Yoka – who defeated Joe Joyce at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro to win the gold medal for France – turned professional in 2017.

His sole loss to date came at the hands of highly-ranked heavyweight Martin Bakole, who earlier this month signed an exclusive promotional agreement with Boxxer as he prepares to make a world title run in 2023.

BOXXER CEO & Founder Ben Shalom said: “We’re delighted to start a relationship with Jerome Abiteboul and All Star Boxing. We really believe that we can work with promotions around the world to grow the sport and get the biggest fights made.

“Dan Azeez is such an exciting talent and the European title is the next step on his journey to world championship contention. It will be a great experience for Dan and we have more fights to announce later this week.”

Excuse the link, boxrec forum doesn't seem to like them. This seems like a good match up. I like the cut of Dan's gib and believe he could be one of the best of the crop.

Talk about doing things the traditional way :TU:

I've enjoyed every step of Azeez's career. Every fight he has taken has been right for each stage of his career....Southern Area, English, British and Commonwealth and now the European :salut:

He should be very proud of the path he has decided to take.

I think he's old school and it stands him in good stead. More boxers should do it in my eyes. I hope Azeez does it.

All hail Dan the man... the new European Light heavyweight champion

Solid performance from Azeez in claiming the EBU crown on foreign soil. A real touch of the old school about Dan and probably why I've felt so connected to his career in the way he's trodden a time honoured path :salut:

Faure didn't seem to be able to defend against Azeez's strong right handers, but even after a torrid 6th round the Frenchman proved stubborn and managed a spirited rally with his slashing combinations.

I had Azeez winning the rounds at a canter despite Faure's resistance and by the 10th I think Dan was growing tired of tagging him with the right hand.

A nice cherry to go on the cake with a final round stoppage :box:

I'd love to see Dan defend his title and then he's absolutely biting at the heels of the division's best.

Another dominant win for Azeez, picking up the European title on the road, Faure tough, game, took his lumps was but was generally always second best, Azeez works the jab well, steps in with it and uses it a lot, was landing the straight right as well early before throwing more overhand rights as the fight went on, he hurt Faure in the 6th looked like the end might be nigh but Faure done well to make it late and tbf had his better spells in the second half but Azeez kept plugging away and hurt Faure in the 11th before getting him out of there in the last round, big overhand right hand Faure out on his feet just about, got nailed with another before the ref got in there, Azeez impressive again

solid fighter, dominated the bout.............albeit he stagnated a bit in the mid-late rounds after the huge 6th. but cant see him doing much at world level. just so basic and one paced for the very best

the opponent was an absolute pillow man, 2 stoppages in 27 fights, dan was always gonna walk through him

Agreed. But I do like Dan he's a good throwback sort of fighter. Hope he can make some decent coin at British and Euro level before jumping onto the world stage where, as you said, he'll be found wanting.
