Got to be the 2nd to vote positive against the 22 negative picks. :D

Something tells me, Fury's team is trying to cash out as much as possible in this matchup, while the bout itself is the biggest money opportunity today in any case, so soon they gotta decide.

If you look at Henry's posts you'd be convinced Team Fury paying by the word for good reviews.

Henry likely a very rich little boy if true👍

If the promoters have actually booked Wembley for April and not just asked them for first refusal, then yes it’s happening IMO. It apparently costs around £500k to hire the stadium.

Having said that, they are now starting to cut it abit fine, time wise.

I think after the Wilder fights Fury realised those knock downs did him some serious damage. So he didn't want to put himself in the position of taking a beating again and that's why he retired. Then he realised he could milk the sport without putting himself in much danger. He's probably also fallen in love with his zero

I think Fury fights then at Wembley. Just not sure now it’ll be against Usyk.

Would people be happy if Fury boxes a soft opponent instead of Uysk on the 29th April?

My feeling is that he is waiting for Uysk to retire and will then try and unify the belts.

Nope.

I have no interest in watching Fury beat someone who’s not close to being elite. I didn’t pay for or watch his fight with Chisora and if he fights someone else that we’d expect him to beat comfortably then I wouldn’t watch it either.

I thought the first knockdown in Wilder 3 was easily the hardest one of the trilogy. That took a lot out of Tyson.

There seems to be a pattern with Tyson Fury in terms of motivation because when it came to Vladimir Klitschko that was the pinnacle of the heavyweight division and he had to beat it and once he did he lost all enthusiasm.

Then the idea of coming back and winning the heavyweight title again became the motivation and he nearly did it the first time around with Wilder and that motivated him more and he knocked Wilder out in the rematch.

It seemed that any and all motivation left was for a Joshua fight but the arbitration with Wilder made it slip out of his hands and ultimately Joshua lost to Usyk. I think there was virtually no motivation going into that third fight but ultimately it was the most entertaining of the three fights.

I think Tyson Fury hoped that Joshua would win the rematch because I think a lot of people thought it was just a simple matter of Joshua not employing the right tactics, that it was a fluke, but when he lost again the dream match with Joshua was definitely gone and not coming back.

I think with Tyson Fury he does recognize that Usyk is a special fighter but at the same time I think Tyson Fury feels absolutely no heat or interest in the man. Tyson Fury is not intimidated by him or fears losing to him, but I think he views it as more of a bother than anything else. He's not Joshua, therefore he's not interesting.

I think Tyson Fury wanted to beat Joshua so bad because so many people made Joshua into this media darling, while ignoring him. And it would have been yet another gold medalist on his resume because this ultimately goes back to Tyson Fury being snubbed in that round table discussion by everyone because they kept looking at Joshua as this superstar even though at the time Tyson Fury was a top contender.

I think motivating Tyson Fury for undisputed is difficult because in his own mind he's already won every single belt there is and truly feels that he has been the best and is the best in the world. So to promote the match as if this will determine who is the best in the world I think don't really impress on his mind one iota.

I think the match will happen at some point but I'm not so sure it happens on April 29th, which will basically be indefensible and people rightfully should complain about any substitute other than Usyk. In a way I'm starting to fear for Tyson Fury because he's starting to develop the mindset that Larry Holmes had in the latter stages of his championship reign of complacency. Don't get me wrong I think he retires undefeated but when you start not loving the competition and you're all about the money you stop being at that high level that you were before.

Thought this was a lock in to happen. Got 12 rounds written all over it and the chance to do the controversial draw card and have a rematch.

Still think it will happen, but Ngannou being released from the UFC presents a hugely marketable low risk fight for Fury, that will garner a ton of casual buys. The two Heavyweight Champions of the world, fighting it off.

The only mistake for a potential Fury-Ngannou fight though was not scheduling it before the UFC have their vacant UFC title match on March 4th though. Takes a bit of the luster off marketing it.

I appreciate your passion for one of your boxing idols but can you not see that it is a bit rum and not a great look for Fury.

Can you imagine Pete Sampras saying that he wasn't going to face Andre Agassi unless he was paid obscene money, then turning down tons of money and playing a lesser player instead.

Ditto, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic etc.

Whyte, who was knocked completely unconscious, by Povetkin not long before, was seen as a tune up for Joshua or Uysk. And instead he boxed 40 year old Chisora with 13 loses, and now looks set to take on a lesser opponent than Uysk.

I don't see how you can't see that he has lost his nerve. The TV companies and governing bodies are in alignment, his opponent accepted terms for Saudi, and yet, Fury has done no promotion for it whatsoever and looks likely to box someone not as good as Uysk. Very odd from a person who says no man born from his mother can beat him. That's because he won't take on the best men.

Chisora, mind you, was already promised the title shot way back before Tyson Fury fought Wilder for the third time. Tyson Fury could not give him that title shot opportunity until he had to get through Dillian Whyte because the man was his mandatory.

Of course one might throw up the fact that there was a little bit of negotiation as to whether Anthony Joshua would fight Tyson Fury in December but if one looks back at the interviews it does show Tyson Fury saying he was going to give Dereck Chisora a title shot anyways.

So no I don't believe for one minute it is a matter of Tyson Fury losing his nerve but rather him fulfilling an obligation that he made to a man he fought twice who is also his friend.

Promising your mate an undeserved world title shot does not make it look any better. That's nothing we didn't already know and that's why we all think it was terrible from the get go.

Hey it wasn't a fight I wanted to see either I'm not really defending it I'm just trying to put everything in its proper context. I would have preferred to have seen Tyson Fury fight Joe Joyce that night or Andy Ruiz.

However there is a historical precedent of a heavyweight champion giving his friend a title shot and that was Joe Louis vs John Henry Lewis, and that was far more egregious than Dereck Chisora getting a title shot because John Henry Lewis was legally blind.

seems like fury is messing around - again .
he knows Usyk doesnt want to fight anyone else and so can keep this dangling .
wouldnt be surprised if it totally collapses and then an Aj fight gets announced for summer .

Fury is emotionally very strong and equally weak.

If he doesn't fight Usyk then this will play on his mind in the future.

In 20 years he will be making "lets go champ" type videos calling Usyk out, making his dad look like a reasonable and rational person.

Do you both really think so? Personally feel Tyson is by far the least battle weary of today's top heavies. Unless he's been pummeled mercilessly during sparring, think he's daisy fresh for a 12 round war if it came down to that.

It won't happen. Not on the 29th of April, not ever. Fury knows Usyk would outbox him to a wide UD. If a ten years younger, fitter, faster, lighter Fury struggled against a Cunningham, imagine what Usyk would do to him.

Remember when Fury said about the Joshua fight that "if both fighters want a fight, the deal is easy to get done - there's only a delay if one fighter doesn't want the fight" Ironic, isn't it?

Usyk already made a deal with the Saudis, he keeps calling Fury out, and he was happy to face Fury. It's Fury who doesn't want this fight. It was Fury who demanded to fight Whyte instead of Usyk last year. It was also Fury who fought a pointless "title defence" against Chisora with an injured hand last December, instead of fixing the injury to face Usyk in February. It was Fury who priced himself out with the Saudis a few days ago. And it's Fury who has been messing around with the contract for this fight for six months or so. There's no single legal or financial detail that can't be worked out in such a long time for a boxing match. Peace treaties after world wars were signed quicker, for heaven's sake.

Fury will keep ducking him, this fight will never happen, sadly. And the World Boxing Corruption won't strip Fury of the title either, so at this point, my only hope is that boxing fans will realise and never forget who is to blame for preventing us from seeing the first undisputed HW title bout in the four-belt era.

Absolutely no way. In general, the body of a tall guy starts to break down earlier - it's inevitable due to biomechanics (longer levers and all that). Fury has reportedly duly struggled with elbow and knee problems recently. Also, you can only do so much ballooning up to 400 lbs then drop some 120 lbs again - but only to still carry around an extra 25-30 lbs of fat. Also also, there's the boozing and the gak snorting for most of his adult life.

Long story short, Fury's constitution is absolutely not daisy fresh. He is in the very last phase of his career. I can't see him fighting beyond 2023.

I think all 4 of the big names will go in the next two years. Fury at 34 will probably look very mortal at 36. Joshua might have already declined and be ready to fall apart against pretty much anyone. Usyk is probably fully maxing out all his potential and might go over the top any fight. And Wilder might start getting dropped and stopped a lot. I’d say by Feb 2025 they’ll all be retired or look well over the hill.

This is peak whataboutery. Did Louis beat JHL twice like a decade earlier or not? Of course, the answer is not. Chisora getting a title shot from the reigning WBC champion was not just a joke - it was a total disrespect for the fans and the sport.

Fury wanted a nice payday for his old pal Del Boy? Then organise an exhibition fight, no problem. The armies of gullible Fury stans would have paid for it anyway, no problem.

But to put the belt on the line, making Fury the only WBC champion in the history who voluntarily defended his title against an almost 40, 12 losses opponent whom he’d already beaten twice before and who wasn’t ranked in the top ten…

You see, this is my problem with Fury fans. You guys should be the most pissed off about it. And what do you do instead? Go into full on negotiating mode and whataboutery.
