When did the board start allowing WBF fights again?
I remember a few years ago they said they would only sanction WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and IBO.

They started creeping back again a couple of years ago, I'm not sure why the board have changed policy.

Possibly because there's a pound note in it. Smith has said in a recent pod cast with Spencer Oliver and Simon Jordan that he wants to have a conversation with Kalle Sauerland about Misfits boxing.
