I'm totally with you and never want to see him in the ring again but Hearn doesn't care and I think is getting quite desperate nowadays .polecateddy wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 16:28Is he really going to be promoted by Eddie Hearn to do an overseas fight? You’ve got to think that all parties involved would end up with a stink on them. Literally the whole knowledgable boxing community would be against them.

No worries. Montoya previously did a couple of interviews with SecondsOut on the Conor Benn situation - both also worth listening to. The guy knows his stuff.

Meh, Benn is a cheat and people will be outraged for a few weeks and then forget as they did with Tyson Fury.
It’s disappointing that they couldn’t be bothered to come up with a better lie after Hearn repeatedly saying ‘you just wait and see…’

I watched some of Montoya's stuff a few years back, very informative.maverick23 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 17:05No worries. Montoya previously did a couple of interviews with SecondsOut on the Conor Benn situation - both also worth listening to. The guy knows his stuff.

Correct. Typed it a bit quick but I meant Leon Spinks. A bit before my era but I had the wrong name.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 13:45
Holmes did not win it in 13 months. It took him 5 years. And it was a vacant titlejoshj909 wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 10:27It's very possible that Joshua, and most other heavyweights, have used banned substances and they should be called out for it when it's proven but that article appears to have made up unheard rumours to push the narrative.polecateddy wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 10:05
There is just so much more bodybuilding info everywhere now, YouTube etc. And the rise of the strength and conditioning coaches who are totally immersed in the details. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned that they wondered how many failed tests had been effectively covered up over the years. Here I see the WBC name-checked again in this article. Suggestions that in 2016 Joshua’s urine contained traces of Clenbuterol, and then again in 2017, by-products of Nandrolone. I hadn’t heard any of that; https://www.anabolicshealth.com/anthony-joshua/
Really it is an awfully written blog post posing as an article. I'm not entirely sure that they know what evidence is and they've referenced rumours and reports which don't appear to exist. You can pick apart nearly every paragraph which just highlights how poorly written and researched it is.
He was an Olympic gold medalist who won the belt after 28 months against arguably the weakest champion in decades. Tyson did it in about 18 months, Holmes did it in 13 months while beating Ali in the process...People have speculated that Joshua’s rise to fame was too quick for him to be completely natural. For example, he went from zero professional fights in 2013 to becoming IBF heavyweight champion in 18 months.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Hearn is putting him out in May or June overseas, this appears to actually be the plan. Definitely a bit unusual - I can think of a few fighters who could no longer be licensed by the British Board went away, usually for medical issues in a short-lived manner, as it rarely works out. But this being licensed abroad and then coming back to the UK again - is there any earlier examples of this type of carry on?
Basically by minute 21, Hearn is basically hinting that perhaps the WBC statement re eggs was made up by the WBC, and wasn't the defence they actually went for 3 weeks ago or whatever. It keeps getting worse! Lol

Fighters like Steve Collins were licenced in America and came back but that was obviously because where they were based.polecateddy wrote: ↑24 Feb 2023, 19:43 Hearn is putting him out in May or June overseas, this appears to actually be the plan. Danny Williams has fought for years on a foreign licence.
If Benn never fights in the GB again, I'm sure he can still headline 2/3 middle eastern cards a year and get rich.
Maybe some fighters won't fight him unless he agrees to VADA testing, but they will be the fighters who would be coming to win.

Somthing I haven’t thought about until just now…
Didn’t he test positive months apart? Surly if it’s the eggs he would of changed that after the first positive test…. Or are they suggesting he ate soooo many eggs that it stayed in his system for months hahah..

next opponent needs to pelt conor with some eggs at the presser
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Good to see lots of boxers calling Benn out for being full of crap.
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
7 weeks apart I think it was. In April 2022 he had the occasional omelette, 3 months later he was eating 40 eggs a week and failed a test but failed to realise it was the eggs and kept eating themgregregegg wrote: ↑25 Feb 2023, 02:17 Somthing I haven’t thought about until just now…

You would think after ffailing the first test you would investigate everything, suspect eggs as a faint mabey and stop 40 eggs a week....
is it really only 40 eggs a week? everyones acting like its impossable, 40 a week is 6 a day, thats super doable... i probabbly ate 40 eggs a week when i was 11... mum use to think i was going to die of cholesterol... I was 30kgs doing 6 eggs of scramble per serve.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
the more doable it is, the less impressive the egg defense is
maybe he should do some public egg eating session where he downs 100 eggs in a sitting, then more people could believe that he was bleeding, pissing, and sh!tting egg, and in fact that he was more egg than man

I was eating a lot of eggs when I had chickens, maybe 30 a week until the chickens sh*tting on my deck pissed me off enough to eat the chickens

I said this earlier in the post. Even if he can ‘clear’ his name, can he explain why he hid the first, then second, test…. And did nothing about it.
That’s the smoking gun, because you can’t explain away the fact that tests were concealed with bluff and legalese

Buncey in his Jake Paul preview podcast interviewed Sulaiman and did his best to shed a little light on the WBC’s bizarre stance on this matter but Sulaiman disgracefully fobs him off with nonsense

Who would ever believe the WBC, an organisation based in Mexico City of all places, isn’t just telling the so-called ‘independent panel’ exactly what to find? Presumably they never loved the contamination of the laboratory defence because it will be some kind of headache for future testing and failures, so they picked some nonsense argument instead.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑25 Feb 2023, 08:40 Buncey in his Jake Paul preview podcast interviewed Sulaiman and did his best to shed a little light on the WBC’s bizarre stance on this matter but Sulaiman disgracefully fobs him off with nonsense

Maybe UKAD won’t end up handing out a toothless backdate 6-12 month ban - their latest news seems to be a 3 year ban for a rugby player who seems to have taken some SARMS.

What’s the name of the U.K. boxer who got a huge, unfair ban for cocaine and effectively ended his career?
