Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
I just saw him for the first time, against Silva. He didn't look too bad. Could be good to see him against a real boxer, I'm not sure Tommy Fury beats him...

No wait, I did see the Nate Robinson fight live ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
I saw his Silva and the 1st Woodley fights. Yeah, he's decent for the amateur boxer. Now he faces another amateur boxer, probably the biggest challenge for him, since his opponent is finally young and had more or less prolonged training in boxing.

Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
By the way, do you guys have a problem with him? I do not. The problem is in the sport, I salute Jake Paul cause this seems to be truly his passion.
Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
No, I haven't
Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
I just saw those quick highlights. I'll watch the Fury fight, not pay for it. He did beat a legit boxer, though. Anderson Silva did have a huge win over Chavez Jr.
Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
I watched the Silva fight because it was a measuring stick and Paul wasn't bad given his lack of experience.
I actually think Paul has more higher level experience than Tommy.
That's why it's a bit more interesting than these fringe events usually are.
I would not be surprised if Tommy lost, even though it is assumed he is more of a boxer than Paul. He is more male model boxer than model male boxer.

Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
From what little bit I've seen of Tommy I've not been really impressed but the last outing I seen him in was an exhibition and he claimed he was holding back so I don't know just how limited he is but I do think he knows he can't really fail because so much is riding on this because his last name happens to be Fury that I think he will dig down deep.
His Dad John shouting, "Moment of truth!", has nothing to do with the event being called the truth but rather it's a quote from Bartley Gorman back in 1976 when he and his brother Sam took on 20 men armed with baseball bats and crowbars and bottles, etc. John was an 11-year-old boy at that time but he saw the event go down.

It went down because it was in the newspapers because it happened the same day as the Doncaster horse races. Some Highlights here and there. Yes

Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
I rarely have the ability to see any Boxing anymore.
I saw a really excellent Showtime Boxing card last night. The Main Event of that was fantastic actually Matias vs Ponce.

Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
ya agree, was an excellent fight and then within 20 seconds of looking up for grabs it was over with a corner retirement. still enjoyable over all but the ending was a disappointment
Re: Have you ever seen Jake Paul fight?
I think Ponce's corner sensed that he had shot his wad and was out of gas, and it was only gonna get worse for him. He may have also looked concussed or something. The cornermen and Ring Doctors may have seen that where we wouldn't.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 22:22 ya agree, was an excellent fight and then within 20 seconds of looking up for grabs it was over with a corner retirement. still enjoyable over all but the ending was a disappointment

i mean, i cant really hate on him for pulling out. it was a gruelling fight and he was in there with a guy who'd literally killed an opponent in a similar type of back and forth fight. it was just a bit of a sudden letdown from a viewing perspective

Mind you my exact words were, "he and his brother Sam took on 20 men armed with baseball bats and crowbars and bottles, etc," I never said that they beat up the 20 men. Gorman did knock out Bob Gaskin, but Gaskin had his relatives along with him.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑27 Feb 2023, 04:06Wow leg literally hanging off and still beats up 20 armed menHomicideHenry wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 21:45Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 20:48

Furthermore, how far fetched could it be for two men who had amateur or pro boxing experience to beat up 20 men with blunt weapons? Tex Cobb beat up a local baseball team armed with baseball bats. You see videos all the time on YouTube of boxers knocking out 4 or 5 men in a street fight.
Anyways...
Bartley Gorman had a lot of amateur boxing matches, and his brother Sam was a sparring partner for Jerry Quarry when he came over to fight Jack Boddell. Say what you like about bareknuckle reputations, etc but they weren't loudmouths like a lot of these idiots online doing bareknuckle fights.
