Sky are showing Holyfield vs Bates this coming Friday night

In addition to showing Williams vs Mitchell, Sky are also showing Evander's return to the ring against Bates

Its not like the future of the division hinges on how good Holyfield's comeback was but its an interesting addition to what looks to be a decent enough show by Sky.

They'll show Holyfield v Bates but ignore Rahman v Toney, Rahman v Maskaev, Brewster v Lyakhovich etc

just goes to show there is future money to be made for the likes of Tyson and Bowe

Williams v Mitchell is the main event and from what I saw, Sky advertised it as such.

The Holyfield bout is just a (small) bonus.

If it wasn't for Sky I think I my enthusiasm for boxing would have taken a very serious knock this year.

All being well Witter-Corley and Moore-Macklin should happen next month and I for one am looking forward to these.

Sky aren't doing too bad. I'm sure alot of fight fans want to see Holyfield-Bates just out of intrigue. Evander wasn't up against much, but it was nice to see him look good at least one more time. After all it has been a while.

You guys will be impressed by Williams, see no problem with them chucking in Holyfield too. Sky are by far the best boxing channel in UK and they continue to prove it.

I don't think ITV are as good as some here think, maybe even on par with channel 5 that show the good delayed ESPN fights a week later, and if your an insomniac then channel 4 is good too, 3 am'ish Sundays they have a show called KOTV, then on Wednsdays around the same time they have KOTV Classics, last night they showed Moore-Durell.

But yeh, Sky are the best.

There is a Sky channel with KOTV on at a respectable hour, a foreign channel, I'll try and track it down. I'm sure it is BEN.

What's BEN? I think KOTV classics get all there footage from ESPN classics, I have one of those shady NTL analogue boxes so don't have the luxury of all those channels on digital

but still get the sky sports, movies and porn channels for free

The Barrera vs Juarez bill is exceptional.

Barrera vs Juarez 1 was a contender for fight of the year, but that is the bout I am least looking forward to of the three.

Those that saw Gonzalez smash up Marc Johnson and Vasquez beat Larios know that this match up is one between two big punching P4P contenders.

Barrios vs Guzman is going to be a slugfest. Winner I hope joins the "elite" bracket and fights the likes of Pac, Morales, Barrera etc.

Williams v Mitchell was always a bizarre, poor buy by sky, but there recent run of shows has been superb.

Sack off NTL/Telewest and get Sky Digital - tonight on ESPN classics is the awesome Bob Foster - I just prey we get fights from his light heavy reign and not his forays into the heavyweight class...

Did anyone catch that show on ESPN classics a few weeks back, the one about the history of Olympic boxing? Quality stuff. Obviously, at an hour long, it was a bit short, and it kind of jumped back and forth, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had some Lazlo Papp footage on it, first time I'd actually seen the guy. He looked absolute dynamite, in a time when amateur boxing actually resembled the pro game. Also had footage of Jones Junior, Stevenson, Foreman and a certain Cassius Clay. Top viewing.

Yep that's the way I see it - they're picking up the cheap stuff like this: a pretty obscure ( UK wise ) contender v a completely washed up has been, but turning down a pick em heavyweight slugfest like the Rahman fight.

They'll still be screening MAB fights when he's fighting at lightheavy in 2015.

So we've been lucky here, but I'm not too hopefull for the future of boxing on Sky with those no brainers in charge. I think I'll cancel again soon.

It might be the best in the UK, but that aint saying much!

BEN channel - short for Black Entertainment Network - can be viewed on Sky, channel 148.

It used to show American boxing on a regular basis, but I think it has now stopped doing so. They used to broadcast "Guilty boxing" promotions and mostly, they were entertaining shows but as far as I know its now a thing of the past, I regularly check the schedule to see if there are any upcoming shows, but I think they've stopped.

The enormous heavyweight puncher Tye Fields has had a few fights on "Guilty boxing" promotions and I was hoping that some of his recent wins would have turned up on BEN, but they haven't.

Get yerself Homechoice. You can get broadband, plus loads of on demands channels, including about 1500 films, and if you want can get Sky sports 1-3 and movie channels for a grand total of 50 quid a month. Bonzer value!

BEN, is that the one which showed those Nigerian soaps which were made for about 50 quid an episode, cracking stuff!

The Williams vs Mitchell fight was part of a Package that SKY have bourght so why not show it?

Not sure why everyone is "down" on the Mitchell vs Williams match up being bought. Sure I would have rather seen a major title fight - like Maskaev vs Rahman, but Williams vs Mitchell was a good fight on paper and I'm glad Sky are keeping tabs on possible future Hatton/Witter opponents.

Mitchell looked much more comfortable at Welterweight fighting the likes of Chris Smith (Tyson vs McBride undercard) and at least put up a brave effort vs Mayweather. He did a MUCH better job than Gatti did.... It was Williams' first major test and by all accounts came through it with flying colours.

Despite knowing the result, I'm still looking forward to seeing if this Williams is worth the hype.

Had Mitchell won I was half excepting him facing Hatton next.

At least with the world class Welters your usually guarenteed a decent fight - These heavyweights your not and the skill levels are terrible.
