That's a turn up for the WBA.

OK, the commentary are not to be trusted anyway. And I'd probably need more than a Davies tweet to confirm that too

Puello is fighting Rolly Romero in a few months.
The winner has to fight Ismael Barroso and then the winner of that is mandated to now fight Ohara.
Will be some fun fights.

Whoever promoted that will have done six figures. It cannot have been Phil Jefferies, who has spent his career putting on knockover jobs at Rainton Meadows ? The BBBoC should be investigating this, but they haven't got the ability to.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑20 Feb 2023, 08:35If it makes money, it won't matter.Black Sam Bellamy wrote: ↑20 Feb 2023, 08:11 Phil Jefferies won't have the capital to cover this event so who is providing the money ?

To be fair it’s a few things, that’s why I never gave in to the temptation to grow a big beard. A good shave takes years off you

The power of SKY hype latching onto something and making people think it's the place to go, Darts etc amongst other things have been the same.KiwiRider wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 19:43Heck, most of us didn't know much about this fight. It was only two days prior I managed to find a way of watching it.Fightnight Scores wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 19:39high tower 1 wrote: ↑04 Mar 2023, 19:27 Why was it so empty ? Is ritson not box office in Newcastle any more ?He was a percieved ticket seller though wasn't he? Surely all those that were out for the nights of yesteryear still follow him on the socials and know when he is next fighting and they're up for another night out to cheer on their lad?
Or was it always the Sky pulling power. The locals see the ads on the TV and get tickets, rather than actually being invested in their local boy?
Sky is still the boss on promoting UK fights. DAZN have learned that one, as have Fite tonight. With proper promotion that hall should have been at least 80% full instead of 15% from what I saw.

It's a shame about Ritson. He looked a world beater at lightweight until he met Patera who really hurt him to the body. He did well to last the 12 rounds. Ponce and Davies have now stopped him to the body. Not sure what he can do or where he can go now. He seems to be caught between divisions and has major trouble with body shots. A genuine hard man though.

I once freed a badger from a snare on Rombalds Moor, it was fecking huge and scarily strong (I had to hold it down with my foot while freeing it)
Once freed it bit me clean through my big toe nail.
Such gratitude![[icon_neutral.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)

Did the same with a bloody great big Herring Gul that had a fishing lure in its mouth and loads of line wrapped around it , that was fun ....

Ohara definitely been given some PR advice
Fair play to him though, he tried to play the heel and it backfired big time, best to just be normal now.

Shows the pull of Sky – Ritson used to pack out Newcastle Arena with football fans. Can’t have been more than a few hundred people in the stands Saturday night.

It won’t have helped but he’s not exactly in his prime, either. Floyd probably had at his the week before. Their time has gone.

I've been to most of Ritson's arena fights, and always had a few mates who you might describe as 'casuals', interested. Hyland, Patera, Davies etc.
Despite this one being possibly the best match up on paper, no one even knew it was happening.
Talk of a world title fight at St James Park feels a very long time ago

That’s anyone with Hearn. They all talk about a stadium fight.WestEndRiot wrote: ↑06 Mar 2023, 14:44

What about Josh Kelly and his Stadium of Light dream.
They start going on about it when they’re still prospects and hyped way too much but end up falling short at the top, or near top.

Its everyone full stop. I don't think they are very easy, or cheap, to do. They're crap for fans, too.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Mar 2023, 17:18That’s anyone with Hearn. They all talk about a stadium fight.WestEndRiot wrote: ↑06 Mar 2023, 14:44

I think st james park was genuinely been looked at for a josh taylor fight.
Not for a second does any1 believe this wouldnt have been a mismatch, but it would have sold to the Geordie and scottish casuals.
Taylor would have gotten an easy, well earned pay day as well.
Ritson just fluffed his lines too many times for it to happen.
