Kelvin Mortimer at welterweight could bang, this was back in the eighties.

Slick Miller KO'd a few decent heavyweight prospects.

Mickey Hughes could bang. He wiped out Gary Jacobs with 1 punch.

Edit : Not really a journeyman though, so scrap that!

I would imagine the journeyman who could actually generate the most force in one punch was James Oyebola.

I’d imagine that answer is inspired by the Langdale contest but Tony Booth could punch, he just rarely did.

james was a british champ, was something like 18-2 when he lost the title and then retired after only 1 more loss. not really a journeyman toured around to give up losses

He knocked my pal out at heavy and dropped another at light heavy, a guy with a very good chin. Tony fancied both jobs.

In terms of what his level was really, he was at journeyman/dangerman level, but he just wasn’t very active and he didn’t travel.

Hmm but not a heavy hitter. When he was in the mood, it was skills and movement. Weren’t many fights where he was on his game though. Just one short, notable patch.

Hard to say. Basically all heavyweights hit hard. I'll throw in Cliff Field. 11 wins, 10 kayos, 4 losses all by kayo as well. He gained his reputation mainly through the old white collar circuit because he blew away Lenny McLean twice in one round.

But despite his reputation in the white collar circuit it didn't quite translate into championship level boxing. Probably the biggest name on his record was Richard Dunn who would later become European champion, and Cliff was stopped due to cuts in the 4th round. He was prone to cuts and if I'm not mistaken he actually was blind in one eye.

I'd probably throw in Paul Sykes as well, even though he did fight John L Gardner for the British title but his overall record wasn't all that good. Sykes had been an amateur weightlifter and pretty strong individual with pretty good hitting power. Another of those hard cases that got a lot of fame from stories of their toughness, but basically was a journeyman type.

Hmmmm. Maybe, he was a light heavy at the very best, though, literally no training most of the time. Incredible story, Booth, swears blind he’s never been knocked out, either.

brirtish title level id consider above journeyman, unless the guy functioned most of the time as someone brought in to get beat and somehow fluked it in one of those. james didnt really spend much of his career as a losing fighter away from home and had the quality to win the british and commonwealth after being a top amateur too. but if you do a rating of guys who were domestic level tops (so up to british), he would be appropriate and would rate high

journeyman, i think more the likes of booth, soko, and their less accomplished colleagues......the dudes who make a living being brought in to lose. slick miller was a good mention, all wins by ko

You obviously think that journeyman means something different to everyone else.
