Fighters like Danny Thorpe and Jason Nesbitt could bang

A mate boxed Thorpe and got the shock of his life in the opening 30 seconds. I think Thorpe was another who chose to go down that route.

I sparred Nesbitt a good few times(hated it)and he could bang!
Another lad from Nobbys stable but more late 90’s was a guy called Trevor Smith,southpaw with solid power

He lost by a point or two, I think. I used to spar with him when we both trained with John Rushton. He was strong for his size.

Gordon Minors in the '90s. He could dig and fought around the country, although he didn't have 50+ fights like some of them do.

Been in the same gyms as Stuart Greener who beat Eubank's boy. He can whack. Nice lad too. Its hard to quantify a heavy hitting journeyman as often they are brought in to lose, so I think that is why people have been choosing ex contenders who can whack

Funnily enough, manager and promoter Mickey Helliet wrote a facebook post the other day about my choice Mark McKray and called him one the biggest punchers he'd ever worked with. Won ABA novice class A & B as well.

I used to go there for a bit before going to a local aba affiliated club. I got badly ill so didn't have any fights and was carrying around a ticking time bomb in my abdomen. Realistically I was mediocre at best and wouldn't have gone beyond the novices. Anyway I digress, he could whack. When you saw him hitting the bags you can tell he had power in both hands, and a very solid jab. Being a journeyman was a conscious decision I believe. Liam Richards from that gym was also making good money at it.

There was one middle from the west country called Mike Rose who I think won the western counties who was extremely heavy handed and a fornicating nightmare. I think he turned pro and had 4 or 5, no stoppages and left it. I know there isn't much money in the west country for boxers which is a shame as there was a bit of talent there.

Colin Manners could bang a bit, but he was let down by only throwing ten to fifteen punches a round (five or six after Pyatt chinned him)
