poor seth, built like a tank but had a chin of the finest china. legs would go silly from even glancing shots
Re: Most padded record?
He got rocked by Witherspoon I think before getting pummeled by the great jonothan banks. That rematch was one of the biggest fixes I've ever seen.

Re: Most padded record?
agree, banks was obviously trying not to finish him and would completely back off when seth was hurt, really bizarre fight

Take away the losses and look what you got. How he ever got title shots is beyond me.

Re: Most padded record?
Hmmm. I suppose Moorer and his management team thought he had a good record on paper of 27-0 but not someone who was genuinely going to slaughter Moorer in the way Tyson, Bowe or Lewis would. havekeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑07 Mar 2023, 07:18 And the winner is..................

Suffering a close decision points loss against Moorer would have done Bean too much damage and again the management team of someone like Holyfield could spin it that Bean's performance against Moorer showed him to be a genuine contender

Maybe the Moorer was a voluntary, but why was he ranked?Theoson wrote: ↑07 Mar 2023, 07:41Hmmm. ah yes, don the animal steele.............a man who lost to another fellow with a very fat record, brian neilsen, who was then 38-0 but would get to 49-0 before being upset by the great dicky ryan (himselff a very padded 47-4)Cent0089 wrote: ↑07 Mar 2023, 07:08 https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/9039

although brian did beat the legendary larry holmes, and you know what they say ----- when you beat a legend, you become a legend
Re: Most padded record?
I;m making a guess that all the top heavyweights in the 1990s wanted to avoid each other unless the money was obscenely good hence you get someone like Bean getting a proper title shot and by that I mean the WBO wasn't really recognised. You also had a couple of other undefeated HWs namely Phil Jackson and Zelijkp Mavrovic who hadn't really beat anyone of note fight Lennox Lewis for the world title

Re: Most padded record?
I looked him up.
His first 42 wins were against opponents with a combined record of 15-45.
Many amongst his first 42 wins were in they're pro-debut.
Re: Most padded record?
Just out of curiousity what would have been more beneficial to someone like Buck Smith. Fighting and - occasionally losing - to someone at least people have heard of or "boxers" who make their debut against the boxer in question and never box again ?

I still remember Max Kellerman frothing at the mouth trying to convince everyone that Bean was going to beat Vitalikeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑07 Mar 2023, 07:18 And the winner is..................

Pro boxers with just one fight but against a name? Interesting question, can't think of any boxers like that that immediately spring to mind.

Re: Most padded record?
Look up Julio Cesar Chavez. His lifetime pro record reads 107-6.
I don't regard that as particularly padded. JCC is a Tremendous Great Warrior Boxing Legend to me.
Many will say his record was quite padded, Especially to the fact that he went up to 89-0, before losing
A SD to Frankie Randall. I would say, well kinda sorta. But that basically goes for most boxing legends, technically speaking, more or less. I mean yeah, obviously, Chavez fought Many boxers who They themselves had definitively padded records.
Just look at the list(The who's who) of Chavez's opponents. One particular guy on his resume that i noticed only minutes ago was 44-0. I forgot his name allready.
One of his opponents whom I always can easily remember was none other than Marty Jakubowski. A travelling Midwest journeyman, who drove all over the place, state to state to state, virtually nonstop, just like Buck Smith, whom is another one of Chavez's wins. Buck had 13 losses by the time he got to fight Chavez, and was obviously Well past his best days by then. Jakubowski though, he got to fight Chavez twice. In 1992, and then again in 1999. His record going into those bouts..? 37-0 for the 1992 bout, and 102-5 going into his rematch versus The Great JCC.
Jakubowski retired with a pro carear record of 119-7. Obviously quite padded. Gotta admire his and Buck Smith's Extremely Stay Busy Boxing Work-Ethic though. Today's boxers obviously cannot relate in the slightest bit to such a work-ethic as those Gypsy Journeyman Boxing Warriors.

That Christopher Lovejoy guy has to be in the running. His record is super weak. Plus I'm Instagram friends with that guy, I never seen a fighter be so cheerful after getting stopped j. He was posting on Instagram after he got beat as if he had just won Heavyweight Championship if the World
