Castillo fined, suspended!
By Karl Freitag
The Nevada State Athletic Commission, today threw the book at Jose Luis Castillo for not making the weight in his rubber match with Diego Corrales in June.Castillo was fined the maximum, $250,000 and had his boxing licensed suspended for the rest of the year. He will be eligible to reapply next year with the stipulation that he can't fight at less than 140 lbs.

I think that is fair punishment, he probably wasn't going to fight till the end of the year anyway, and glad they have made that stipulation.
So maybe Hatton or Witter could face him next year.
Castillo fined and suspended.
Re: Castillo fined and suspended.

Seems a reasonable punishment. Castillo really was taking the piss. I hope he does fight Hatton, as seems likely, Ricky needs it to redeem the crap 2006 he's had.
One thing, and I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, wasn't Castillo on 'only' $900,000 for the third fight with Corrales (with Chico making $1,250,000)? Or something like that. I'm sure I heard those numbers when the fight was cancelled.
Really puts into perspective how much Hatton makes, if that's the case. He was making more than that for fighting Vilches, was he not?
