Moorer vs The 80s Alphabet Champs

Post by HomicideHenry »

Mike Weaver
Gerrie Coetzee
John Tate
Michael Dokes
Pinklon Thomas
Bonecrusher Smith
Tony Tubbs
Tony Tucker
Tim Witherspoon
Trevor Berbick
Greg Page

15 rounds for each fight :box: I think he wins at least eight out of 10 of these matches if not all 10. Feel free to highlight in bold who you think he would have lost to, that would make everything simpler.

Jesus Christ Almighty God bless you all :TU:

Only Witherspoon beats him, imo.

On their better nights, I think Thomas, Dokes and Coetzee could make it tough for him. Always thought Thomas was a bit underrated skillwise (also underachieving). Smith and Weaver had a puncher's chance against anybody. Witherspoon, though, would be the toughest matchup, IMO. Berbick and Tubbs would have gone the distance but lost

Moorer definitely had the skills to outbox any of them, but a lot in the list would have big puncher's chances.

I actually fancy a few of these dudes against Moorer to be honest.
Not least because these were the pick of the Alphabet crop.

Definitely the 'Spoon, I actually think he shows Moorer up,
Coetzee with good hands could KO Moorer.
Tucker could it keep long and pick Moorer off.
I can see Smith and Tubbs winning as well.

Pinklon Thomas as well. At his best, he might have been the best of all of them.

Most of these guys were not consistent, and on an off night Moorer could win. He could also occasionally win by fighting a good fight and not getting nailed. The problem is that he had a weak chin and could be hit. He would win on occasion, but would lose most of the time.

Of that bunch, Michael Dokes and Tim Witherspoon are the most likely to beat Michael Moorer. Also Greg Page, but he is not on the list.

His best chance would probably be against Tubbs, who was the weakest puncher of all of them.

Tate is hard because his career fell apart after the Weaver fight. Up until round 15 of the Weaver fight, Tate was a better fighter than Moorer.
None of these guys were very consistent, which makes it tough. At times, he is going to win because one of those guys would just mail it. However, there is no way he is going to win more than half of these fights with that chin.

I feel the same way. All of these former champs were very good and could beat Moorer.
If they came in 100% shape both mentally and Physically
Moorer would win some and lose some.
