Question: How is the rankings affected after Yoka lost a Split Decision to Takam?

Yka was probably just outside the top 15..

Takam was probably outside the top 20.

Both remain out. Takam is probably about 17-25 after that win.

(And to collate what I posed on the previous thread):
Bakole's win over Yoka which is the only reason he is ranked in our top 15 has not aged that well and looks worse than Makhmudov's win over Takam. Yet we can't change the rankings for them until one of them fight next.

Think I'd have the rankings something like this now personally because Bakole's big win has been exposed:
9) Sanchez
10) Ajagba
11) Makhmudov
12) Chisora
13) Demirezen
14) Hrgovic
15) Bakole

I guess people can make a decision on Bakole if he fights Shevadzutskyi soon otherwise it could end up being 12 months since he beat Yoka. There is a lot of inactivity against top opponents from 9-15 so others might want to drop those guys aswell.

- Bakole's last win was Yoka in May 2022.
- Ortiz lost to Ruiz in Sep 2022 but last won against Martin in Jan 2022.
- Pulev lost to Chisora in July 2022 but last win came against Forrest in May 2022. I think the biggest issue with Pulev is that he's still ranked above Chisora.

Yeh the whole covid stuff is behind us, unless a boxers says he has covid. It’s no excuse to be out the ring for long.

If Bakole is not scheduled for a fight by time his Yoka anniversary is around, then we’ll vote on him.

Not necessarily out, but maybe he’ll be dropped.

Ortiz, although he didn’t win, he still fought and lost, as a result, dropped.

Yoka didn't even look like he wanted to be in the ring, let alone on our top 15!
As for Takem, he looked jacked to the max, and if that performance was repeatable, he would probably beat a couple of the lower ranked guys.
I'd like to see him against Ortiz in a battle of the ancients
Another win like that against anyone in the boxrec top 20 and there is a serious argument for his inclusion.

No change. The Old Takam was on the bad streak, Yoka came out of a loss, neither had claims for the top 15.

Takam should get a decent payday testing some of the young guys like Anderson.

how many guys really are clear above him though? i'd say it's not much more than 14, i'd put him around 20th.....i would consider that 'near' the top 15, though i think clearly he misses it still. he prob wont go any higher in his career, but still a solid gatekepeer

-any wilder win in 3 years…

- any Whyte win in 3 years.

Yoka just looks scared in there. It would take one round for any boxer to get confident in there.

I'd argue that how Helenius fights is the closest to how Yoka fights of the previous round of heavyweights. Big tall guy that dominates the lower level and looks powerful but looks gunshy and timid against the top guys and ultimately gives up fighting back. Yoka appears to have a more solid chin though.
