At 154.
10 rounder.
Madison square garden.
Joe Gatti was a strong guy. Fairly Hard puncher, especially in the earlier rounds. He Lacked defensive skills and durability though. I always remember that bout where he took on Terry Norris, and was brutally Ko'd. First round ? Second round ? Whatever, it was terribly brutal. Against John Duddy though, I think he'd likely be in the clear from getting Ko'd or even Tko'd by Duddy, who himself was a pretty explosive front-runner/swarmer, in the first round or two.
This bout surely would've wound up being A Nice Clean Entertaining Brawl. I think that the fans would've been thoroughly entertained. It'd be a proverbial example of Good ideal Boxing Bout Matchmaking.
I think that it'd go the distance and Duddy would get the nod. A 6-4, 5-4-1, 5-5 decision. A majority decision win for Duddy.
A rematch at 160 would've been equally entertaining. Duddy by close SD in a rematch at 160. These guys would've been the 154 and 160 version of Arturo Gatti vs Mickey Ward.
John Duddy vs Joe Gatti
Re: John Duddy vs Joe Gatti
I don't know how this fight would turn out. I guess Gatti would win. But I will say that Duddy was tougher and better than people realized. I was surprised and impressed that Duddy went the full route with Chavez Jr.
Re: John Duddy vs Joe Gatti
Duddy would win by a fairly decisive KO I think.
Neither of these guys went all that far, but Duddy went a little bit further, and say what you want about Duddy but the guy had some pop.

Re: John Duddy vs Joe Gatti
I know the networks used to rave about him. I remember him getting cut to pieces by Walid Smichet. I think Duddy made a few quid and always entertained!
